I honestly don't know what they could possibly add to the Star Wars world that they really need to 3D it. I mean come on. Come on.

Its really just the prequel trilogy and the Special Edition trilogy put into 3D since that's where all the CG assets came into play and those are easier to retrofit into 3D than most things would be. They're remaking Titanic in 3D for that very same reason, even though I think the only good that came of that movie was it shook DiCaprio from playing dippy heartthrob characters and he starting picking better roles. It was vastly overrated otherwise.

And it made me hate Celine Dion for all time. And to think I found her slightly tolerable before that.

I think the entire 3D thing is ridiculous anyway. If I want 3D, I go outside. Just saying lol.

God, 3D is so obnoxious. Back when I went to see Captain America with my sister we were both extremely grumpy that our local theater was only showing it in 3D. Higher ticket prices, obnoxious gimmicks and making my eyes hurt while I watch? No thanks, I'd rather you just show me the movie normally so I can enjoy it.

The industry needs to drop this 3D thing. They've tried it many times before and there's a reason it never catches on. It's annoying.

Bleh. Social interaction is strange. I was really close with this one girl back in high school and she's one of three people who aren't blood relatives that I consider part of my immediate family, but we only ever talk once a year on her birthday. We both realize it's a yearly thing, we're still on good terms and everything, we just only seem to talk once a year. It's weird. At least we're still in contact with one another, which is more than I can say for most of the people I knew in high school.

I won't argue that Hollywood tends to uses 3D in a gimmicky way, but that's not all movies or video games do. Pretty much any CG film is something I would rather see in 3D because it plays to the strengths of that animation style. I'd want a Pixar movie to go that way, but perhaps not a hand-drawn Disney film. I think Nintendo has made a better case for 3D than most third parties have, though RE: Revelations really is beautiful in 3D. Not needed, but nice.

I think as the sort of glasses-free tech Nintendo and Sony are toying with takes hold, 3D will become less obnoxious and more of an option. Right now its a fun toy for Hollywood to play with and really the only thing keeping people going to theaters in a time where you could just rent it from Redbox or watch it on Netflix in a few months. The urgency to go out to the movies has certainly faded, but would I go out for a few Star Wars flicks in 3D? Sure.

Star Wars and Batman will probably be all I go out for this year - the rest is Netflix, Redbox or Hulu material.

There are a number of smaller films I intend to see this year (still need to see The Artist), but as for blockbusters, I always avoid the 3D. Gives me a headache. I think I saw Thor in 3D. It was ok, but nothing spectacular.

In other news, I can't wait to start working downtown again. This 45 minute commute is killing me, time and money wise.

But it does go away. The whole thing is cyclical. They've been trying to push this stuff since what, the 50's? There will be periods where the industry thinks "oh man this is the next big thing that's gonna make us boatloads of cash", so they push it for a while but ultimately the public issues a resounding "meh" and then it goes back into its hole for a decade or so. Then the industry runs out of ideas again and out pops 3D tech again, only to repeat the process. The technology might be getting better, but it's still annoying as fuck.

Finally called the cops. It's been four days that this vehicle (I finally figured out what vehicle it is) with the incessant car alarm has moved (or, since I've noticed it move). It's also been ringing off and on for four days. So I called the cops. Maybe it's stolen. Maybe it's abandoned. Maybe they can have it towed. To be honest, I just want the fucking noise to stop.
