Except the clothing one wears is just as (if not more so) important in determining whether or not a hat is or isn't appropriate, or what kind of hat is appropriate as body type and face shape.
Oh god, the art of manliness? That site gives poor misguided straight boys more dumb ideas about how to do things than any site I've seen on the subject.

If you are wearing clothing where a hat (appropriate type will change) is not appropriate, you are not wearing good clothes.
In all honesty, that article about picking a hat was too simplistic. The only real way of picking out a hat, or hats, is to actually go and try them and see how they work with you. Preferably go with someone you trust to have and voice an accurate opinion. If they're not willing to tell you you look like a tard when you look like a tard, they're no good.
