How long have you had it running and (I assume it is a usb device) have you simply tried to unplug it when not using it, or at least unplugging it every so often?

It's my laptop's built-in touchpad. The last reboot was probably 2 days ago. Found this thread on the issue, so I rolled back to an older driver. Guess I'll know in a few hours if it worked. I just thought it was hilarious it was taking over twice as much memory as Photoshop so I thought I'd post it. That and I like using that reaction face.

That sucks even more. Are you actually using any of the features of the driver? Windows most likely has a generic driver for it that would probably serve all your pointing needs.

Yeah, I use it to change the touchpad sensitivity. It tends to jump around at random times with the default settings. It also has one gesture I actually like, lets me scroll up/down pretty quickly if I touch the pad with two fingers instead of one. After rolling back the drivers it's only using 10 MB and I have 6 GB of RAM, so I can live with that. If the memory leak comes back though, I'll probably just uninstall it altogether. I usually use a USB mouse. I just like having the touchpad work for those times that I either don't have much desk room, or I'm using it on my lap.

or you're still using Firefox 3.6

Of course your physical memory is only 60% allocated, so you might technically not be having a problem.

Yeah, it's not eating up my RAM yet, but still. I'm on 7.0.1. Guess I'll have to try making a new profile without extensions to see if that helps.

I tried out Chrome, but it's missing certain Firefox features that I really like. The main two being Tab Groups, which I can understand, and tagged bookmarks, which I honestly don't. I mean, this is Google we're talking about, you'd think they'd make it easier for me to search bookmarks. I also haven't found a plug-in similar to Save Image in Folders. Those are all dealbreakers for me, though I understand they're not for other people.

Pretty sure it's been much less than a week since I last restarted the browser, too. Probably a day, two at the very most.

I'm a minimalist when it comes to browsers. There's tons of cool plug-ins out there, but I've never felt the need to use any of them beyond adblock/no-script.

Generally I am too, but that add-on is the key to saving large amounts of pony pics in record time. I still keep Chrome around for Google Docs, Firefox seems to screw up the cursor positioning for some reason.

It is probably a single extension flipping out on one or two tabs you have open. The other most likely cause is a few tabs you have open have some poorly performing javascript running on them. Firefox itself behaves relatively well.

Dang, you just have so many issues.... My fire fox is at 580k atm, peaking at 17 CPU.
