Aye that is true, I still enjoy remembering the face of the american who asked a Jeordie friend for directions, the american asked me whether he was from the middle east as he couldn't under stand him!! Anyways, was not referring to breasts more growling at the badger.

You can be American and do that, and you don't even have to speak that foul wretch you call a dialect during your normal life.

This has reminded me to watch Craig Ferguson's show later today.

Had a job interview today. Feel kinda apprehensive about it. I'm sure I owned the face of the writing test they gave me, but they didn't have that or my resume in front of them and didn't ask anything about either. They just asked kindof broad, open-ended questions which I could only come up with forgettable, generic answers to. If they were trying to get anything out of the interview other than simply to meet me and make sure I wasn't obviously retarded, I feel like I must have done a pretty mediocre job of giving it to them because I didn't pick up on it. Hopefully it works out anyway. My reference said her own interview didn't go too well and she got hired anyway, and the HR Rep who was there at the beginning seemed to take it as a given that she'd be getting back to me later, so maybe it was just a formality. We'll see how it goes. I'd love the job but I wasn't looking for it either. Easy come, easy go. If I don't get this I'll probably go back to school instead.

                        Don't you mean if?

In my own news, I'm now two weeks into my new job. I'm still in the training process, but it's going well. Good company, easy-ish work, good opportunities for advancement/pay/benefits, etc. I'm still kind of waiting for the other shoe to drop, because after so much searching, I'm kind of baffled that I got this lucky.

Well I hope something comes from it and keeping fingers crossed. The job sittuation here in the UK is dire and I doubt I will find a new one till feb at least looking on the jobsites and the recruitment agencies.

Also congrats Murphie, these days any job is better than nothing and if you can get some decent training from it, it just adds to the ammo you have of experience to get a better one later on.

I kinda wonder what other posters here majored in sometimes. A lot of you seem to have jobs that don't require a degree; but I'm pretty sure most of you have them. If you don't, it's definitely not because you're lacking the intelligence; even our stupidest members are more intelligent than plenty of folks I've met who are doing just fine in college (not that I'm implying college is more about brains than anything else).

I get that the economy is terrible, but I can't fathom what degree you'd be holding that you'd rather just get an hourly wage job than something relevant to your field.

To make it clear this isn't an indirect personal attack, I'm mooching off family money to dick around learning Chinese, which isn't even a real interest of mine, and will probably enter a completely boring career path in either English teaching, Business, Comp. Sci, Translation, or some mix of the above. I'm not criticizing anyone, just curious.
