So dance was last night. Drank the perfect amount, which is to say that I remember pretty much all of the good parts and am not sure if the bad parts happened or if I just imagined them (case in point, I may have asked a girl out, but all I can remember is her telling me something was "inconvenient"? And then I went outside and IM'd a lady friend about girls and how I'm so sad, etc.). I somehow managed to get in a cab and get home, although I remember pretty much nothing apart from hailing the cab, telling him where to go, checking the meter because I was paranoid he was ripping me off, and then for some reason I got out at the grocery store and bought milk before going home.

Pretty normal dance stuff, otherwise. Had to appreciate the moment where pretty girl is sitting with/talking with the same guy all night; I'm sure they're a couple. I notice them taking photos of themselves, I offer to help. Girl beams at me, says "Yes! ...With you!", Feba goes "uh...", guy goes "uh...", girl continues beaming. And then the guy takes a photo of us, because what else was he gonna do? Then I took a photo of them and walked off, because what the hell was I going to say?

Actually, remember now, later on girl comes up and sits down next to me, I go "uh, isn't your boyfriend going to get jealous?", boyfriend walks up and sits down on her other side. Don't think I said anything to her after that.

They wanted a menage trois. Duh. Next time DP that ho.

Lately I've been mulling things over and I think that love is a paradox in that it is simultaneously infinite and finite. It is infinite in the power and influence it commands, but finite in how it can be distributed. Quite problematic, and dealing with the logistics of it is just an absolute nightmare.

And this is why i LOVE the movie Love Actually. Its in my top 5 movies of all time. It hits on almost every single aspect of "love." I love that movie.

cid: I don't think it's such a paradox at all. Humans, while capable of a surprisingly large amount of things, are ultimately still finite beings.

Yeah I'd like to try it just to say I've done it, but I have a feeling they're overrated, especially considering that people with attachments to other people get jealous - I know I would struggle seeing my boyfriend with another woman, even if we were both in on that.

In other news, he has decided that next year during Spring Break we are going to go to Italy and ... he's fucking paying. Jesus lord in tap-dancing heaven I don't even know what to do with myself anymore. AHHHHHH I've never had a man just want to buy me things and take me places.

I'm too much of a romantic and without the emotional component there's no point (for me) - at that point it really isn't any different than just scratching an itch. I know that sounds crazy to some (a lot?) of people but that was the only reason I ever even dared in the 1st place. I knew how I felt about my girl back then, and at the time she loved me back and that's what made the whole experience. Without the love component we're just animals and I can do just fine without otherwise.

Basically.
To be that physically intimate with someone without having the corresponding emotional intimacy is just a completely foreign concept to me. I guess I'm just old fashioned, but I can't imagine having sex with anyone who I wasn't planning to spend several years of my life with.

I'll admit I had my days of promiscuity back when I was younger but that's passed and I'm pretty much in the same boat. There was a time I could have sex without the emotional attachment, but these days I much prefer the more fulfilling kind.
