            Speaking of jobs,

Our company just went through a huge merger where we bought out another company, but due to supervisory turmoil in our department (the previous supervisor having been shit-canned), our department is kind of being taken "under" their version of the department, which is funny, because with 1/5th of the people, we get better results on bringing in revenue.

So the Dallas people are in town this week and they're learning how we do things and what our processes are, and I had this meeting with them because my job is unique at least to our "side" of the company, and they wanted to know what I do, how I base my decisions, etc. My supervisor was in there too, but basically, they were talking to me and asking my input and what it is that I actually do.

I answered every question they threw at me like I'd been doing it for years. I have full confidence in what I do and the processes I take daily. The meeting went on for an hour and a half (!) and when we came back to our office, my supervisor was so impressed. She also said (since she left the meeting room), that they were incredibly impressed that with zero prior experience in either the credit or broadcast field and after only having worked here for six months, they were basically blown away by how much I knew and how solid my knowledge was.

And it speaks for the entire department that the one who has been here the shortest amount of time can give that much knowledge and be that confident in what our department does. They might want to start to realize that while our ways of doing things differ from theirs, that our numbers and our knowledge speaks for itself. I think that was just what we needed to show them that while we had a supervisory hiccup last year, we are just as solid as ever and will continue to produce results.

So yeah, I feel pretty good right now.

I actually really appreciate having people who do this. I dread having to actually interact with people, so having people on staff specifically for that purpose is really nice.

I generally only deal with people via e-mail which is the best ever.

Car accident today... car flipped on its side... First accident I've ever had!

But you know what? I'm still fabulous.

I live this daily. Oh and you get people pissing and moaning about you doing maintenance during lunch, even though I'm having mine 3 hours late so as can get everything done during your lunch break.

Oh and then there's the times where you warn people that you can update things while the severs are live, but you may have to restart them, and people still flip out anyway because they didn't save anything before the restart.

We have a weekly power transfer test, to transfer to our emergency generators and ensure that all goes smoothly. Every Wednesday. We get the same e-mail from the same person every week, and it's done at the same time every week, and yet we still get people complaining about it.

Most of the time everything just kind of flickers for a second, in fact since I've been here, it's never actually shut everything down. But since we're in a TV station, we have to have backup power in case of hurricanes, so it's tested weekly.

So you can continue broadcasting to all the people who lost power?
