Re: Official Bored at Work / Off-Topic Chat Thread II
Got in contact with CareCredit, who I applied with a few months ago for LASIK (but ended up not getting it done because money), so it turns out that I can use it at the dental place I go to, so as soon as I get my replacement card since I never got the first one, I can get this painful monstrosity yanked out of my mouth.
Finished Battlestar Galactica. And now I'm instantly finding myself disliking some of Mass Effects' story.
Hahaha. I thought about that, too, when I finished ME3. Still enjoyed the game, though. The show, however, was amazingly awesome. It made me feel bad for Apollo at the very end but it was an excellently crafted show. I still miss it sometimes.

Yeah, but it's the kind of awful that ends up being endearing. It tried so hard and then just sort of fell over so you can't help but go "dawww".
Or at least that's how I remember it being when I saw it back in college.
For me its one of those bad movies that you can't help but watch anytime you see it on. It and John Carter. I know there awful, I just can't help myself.

It's just that the Geth vs. Quarian conflict was probably my favorite storyline in Mass Effect. So, knowing Battlestar Galactica came first, it left a sour taste in my mouth when I was watching this show about a technologically advanced race that had been forced off its home planet by the sentient AI's they created and now they're traveling around space in a massive spaceship fleet trying to find a new home planet. Admittedly, the conflicts are resolved differently. But it didn't help that it took a couple of episodes before I stopped associating Michael Hogan with Officer Bailey and started thinking of him as Saul Tigh. And then there's Tricia Helfer playing a sexy robot.
Oh man, this movie is great. And by great, I mean terribad.
You are crazy... This movie was great... Same with the movie Sneakers. Both great movies from that time period that had a tech spin to it. You my friend have bad taste.

Let me guess Feba, you also thought the Matrix was "terribad?" lolwut

Funny you mention that. A friend of mine who works in retail electronics was complaining one day about it being "a day of people who think they know electronics because they watched Hackers once." Such gems from that day including an elderly lady threatening to report to corporate for "refusing to sell [her] a Wifi", as well as the following exchange:
"Do you have Ethernet cable?"
"Here you go."
"No, that says cat5 networking cable on it. I want Ethernet cable!"

Gotcha. I always associated the very end of BG with one of the possibly endings to ME3. Merging the synthetics and organics in ME3 always seemed similar to the very end of BG when you find out all humans on Earth were descended from the first human/cylon child.

All of this has happened before, and all of this will happen again. So say we all.
