I also took that quiz but I must have clicked something wrong because it called me a "freedom hating socialist European commie Canadian hippie-nazi"

I googled "nazi hippo" and was disappointed to get no hits. I did find this that works just as well:

Wow. I am really fucking out of shape, holy crap.

I arrived at the airport in Brownsville and found out my flight was going to be about 45 minutes late. When I arrived in Houston I had 24 minutes to get from my arrival gate to my departure gate. If you've ever been in Houston's airport, you're aware that gates in Houston are generally not very close. Basically, I had to run (and yes I mean run, with a backpack on and platform heels since they didn't fit in my bag*) probably a good mile from point A to point B, with a tram ride in between concourses. I took all of the escalators and moving platforms as quickly as I could and damn near ran over about 55 handicapped/old people in the process. I get to about 100 meters from the gate when I hear the announcement that it's the final boarding call so I turn it into a raging fucking sprint to my gate ... I get there and hand my boarding pass the lady and I'm just fucking panting as I walk through and onto the plane. The people on the plane were looking at me like I was a leper. But at least I made it.

Yeah, I'm gonna start working out again.

*Shoes are still the most comfortable that I own, believe it or not.

                  orly? XD Gee, thanks science.

It mentions the study was only done on women. I think that's because this is something men already knew about themselves. I mean, raise your hand if you've never been slightly revolted by the image on your monitor several moments after you suddenly become less aroused.

Also explains how people are capable of eating oysters. Their mild aphrodisiac effect helps you not be disgusted that you're sucking snot out of a rock.

This seems like it should just plain be common knowledge. As different as men and women can be, in more ways we couldn't be any more the same.

I always figured that was the onset of shame, but apparently it was just science.

20 lbs still seems a bit much for actual combat. I mean there's a reason why all the others were under 10 lbs, right? This strikes me as a case of possible, but not plausible.

It's plausible but at the end of the day completely impracticable to wield a weapon that heavy and downright huge. Remember that ÅŒdachi, while used on horseback in some sources, were mostly ceremonial because it's far more practicable to be using a polearm or a one handed curved blade while in the saddle.

The Zweihänder is similar in that it's actually pretty rare to see an actual historical source from the era that was supposedly their heyday where they were really used in battle rather than for ceremonial purposes. Also remember that Zweihänder type swords didn't actually appear until the 16th century which was pretty much end of of the Knight era due to firearms technology and military tactics moving on. The only sources recording Zweihänder swords actually being used were used by the Black Band to counter Pike formations. Turns out that big ass swords are pretty useful for breaking pikes and disrupting pike formations.

It's the same deal with the Longsword really. The only reason they evolved is due to armour technology progressing to the point where it was far more practicable to use a two handed weapon that it would be to have a heavy shield strapped to your arm. The ony reason they got so long is because they needed a long, tapered end so it would be possible to fight someone else wearing full plate. But it was only really German and French knights that used those anyway. Most others would just use a mace (Hungarian) or a pollaxe (English), or crossbows (Italian and French Mercenaries), or shot lots and lots of arrows (English footsoldiers), or halberds (pretty much everyone), or Hammers (English Archers and French Footsoldiers).

Basically sword that big were status symbols. There's no doubt some Freudian crap in there too but who really takes Freud seriously anymore? Yes it is possible to wield one but that guy with the more reasonably sized weapon is going to kick your arse if something goes wrong and you will look an idiot for using it.

I'm just surprised that it's only as impractical as that.

I thought the point of a longsword was to be long enough to use on horseback. Maybe we're thinking of different things though, since I'm thinking of a one-and-a-half sword.
