    Re: Acne/Break Outs

I usually have one to wake up, and one with my "noon" (more like 5PM) meal.
You shouldn't need it to "wake up" as by now your caffeine tolerance is high enough for that to have zero effect. Its just a placebo effect at this point.

I can knock back a double espresso and go back to bed. It only "works" when I believe in it. I've stopped believing. I cut caffinated sodas from my diet several months ago, now I hardly even have the ones without.

Still, you're "waking" your body up with something that dehydrates. You have plenty of wiggle room with the end of your day (so long as you're not hitting the bed too soon after 5pm), but if you do drink right before bed that won't help you either.

As for sweating while sleeping - go without the sheets if you have to. Maybe get a fan for your room if the AC isn't doing enough.

It's not about the caffeine to wake up, necessarily, just that I like the taste of it going down my throat after it's been dried out all night. I prefer the carbonation fizzing its way down, it tastes incredible.

I'm sure there's a dirty joke in there for someone to pick up on, but I'm just going to leave it as is. I absolutely adore the taste of soda when I first get up.

Well, at least try going without for a couple of weeks, you do lose your taste for it.

I look at it like an occasional treat now - diet soda or not - because the carbonation and high fructose corn syrup fuck you up.

If you have skin problems overall, I highly suggest milk baths. Some people argue organic milk is best, as non-organic milk comes from cows that are put under much more stress as they aren't free roam. Therefore, the stress is transferred to the milk, which is then transferred to the consumer. But, who really knows / cares. Further infos: http://health.learninginfo.org/milk-bath-recipe.htm

Milk is great for your skin and it's always best to look and see if there's milk in skin products.

          Just a suggestion.

It's one of the arguments some have for the pros of organic milk over "normal" milk. I'm just relaying information. ;p

Butthat would mean milk from a happy cow would be full of anti-depressants such as seratonin which is absurd.
Happy milk or sad milk is both not too good for us. As a species we're not really meant to be drinking the stuff apart from the brief period we spend on the breast as infants.

I wouldn't recommend bathing in milk though it's quite a fatty substance. you wouldnt swim in a pool of grease regardless of the colour plus it would smell after a little while. milk has a short expiration window.

Dairy products are a common trigger for acne breakouts. It takes a while to target what can trigger it. Some people are allegic to only a few dairy products which makes isolating it even more difficult.

In Aks case I think it's a combination of stress and being run down "not enough sleep/strange hours"

You can't compare milk to grease. Also, you just discredited most modern food guidelines by saying we shouldn't be eating dairy. This, I do not think is wise.

As a beauty agent, I do suggest milk for the skin (obviously, as long as you aren't allergic to it.)

It's not like dairy is necessary for a healthy diet.

Necessary? No. Much easier to get things such as protein and calcium from utilizing many dairy products? Yes.

What about beer, what if I drown myself in Bud Light tonight, will that work for my complexion?

Also, I cry a lot, is that affecting my skin?

First question was a joke, second is semi-serious. Maybe it's all the crying I've been doing. It's a wonder I'm not dehydrated.

Brewer's yeast is "good" for the skin and helps maintain a balanced PH. It also helps to slow the... um... "growth" (?) of acne. So, while the beer isn't good, the yeast from production is gaining popularity as an acne fighting product.

As for the crying... No idea.

Soy milk has just as much protein, less saturated fat and you're less likely to find someone that's intolerant to soy. Don't know about the calcium.

Really unless you're an athlete you can get your daily protein by eating just about anything that's not junk food. (And if you ARE an athlete, well, that's what powdered whey protein is for.)

I never said we shouldn't be eating dairy at all.

All I did was offer advice to somebody from a medical perspective. As a medical professional myself ( Registered nurse in the uk with a valid pin number and registered with the nursing and midwifery council ) I offered suggestions from things I have encountered and observed personally as an accident and emergency nurse.

I did say as a species we aren't designed to be drinking milk. Which is quite accurate from what I have been told by colleagues.

You won't catch me going anywhere near Soy products unless it's fermented. I'll pass on lapping down estrogen in milk form.

As for the protein discussion, what about calcium? Yeah, you can buy those vitamin pills, but not all of us like to take pills. Nor do we like dumping in disgusting tasting powder into our drinks.

"Not designed for" and "not meant to be" are two separate terms. Just because we aren't designed for it, doesn't mean we can't benefit from it. I also never questioned your medical license.
