I like how people are really doubting this. If it is false, it would very easily blow up in our faces and be proven to the contrary. There is simply no reason to doubt that he has in fact been killed. Conspiracy and doubt is the name of the game these days and its appalling and pathetic, just like the conspiracy theories about 9/11. The world doesn't work like that. Shit gets found out and control of information is extremely difficult, if not impossible. I just like how the 4chan phrase "pics or it didn't happen" is the call of the doubters in this case. If only it was something more like "tits or gtfo".

eh, sorry, decided to remove my semi-cathartic post. Gloating and flaming do not suit me. I'm just slowly finding myself increasingly more jaded and disappointed with the state of society at the current point in time. \

I think at this point its because they have given us multiple and differing accounts of how it went down and that gives conspiracy theorists too much to play with.

First he was shot in the head outside his mansion in a firefight with navy seals.

Then he was surprised inside his mansion and shot in the head as he went for his weapon.

Then he was surprised in his mansion bedroom by the seals, threw his wife at them and was shot in the head as he went for his AK-47.

Next I expect to hear that he was shot in the head inside the study with a revolver and that Miss Scarlett did it.



So the only consistent elements of the story are:

- Osama is dead
- Shot in the head
- This was a surprise for him.
- Somewhere in the proximity of a mansion/compound
- Later buried at sea

These all come up, I will assume them to be true.

As for the claims Obama did it for a boost in approval ratings, why would he do it now when he could have played that card near the end of his re-election campaign? If it was a ploy it would have benefitted him far more at that point, but that card is played.. Bush's patriotic moment got him a boost for a bit after 9/11, too. It didn't last. He held on to the presidency, sure, but also lost the House and Senate. Obama's already lost the House and that's not going to be easy to get back anytime soon and there's not a lot left to stop a shift in the Senate majority now.

I don't think it was anything more than it was, a morale boost for the country. Osama could have been dead for years and that would be beside the point since he's still dead and many people all over the world, including those in the Islamic faith, are rather content with that.

There are lots of reasons to question a government and we have this thing called freedom of speech in democracies that allow us to do it. Questioning/complaining your government isn't some unpatriotic act - those that follow their political leaders constantly without question are the people to be worried about.

I've never been happy with any president 100% of the time. Obama did the right thing and he had a good week last week and lots of people give him that. He can enjoy that 9% boost in the polls while it lasts. His approval rating otherwise as been as bad if not worse than Bush's when Bush was exiting office.

When we got Saddam, Bush enjoyed the same boost before everyone remembered many other things kind of sucked. And did anyone have problems questioning him as a leader? Nope. Was anyone called unpatriotic and told to leave the country for doing so? Very rarely, and just by crazy people.

Then honestly go live off in the middle of nowhere, pure and simple. Governments will always exist, for without some sort of order, we have anarchy which generally screws everyone in the end. Hell even better still, if you dont like or trust your government bust your ass to make a change instead of talking out of your ass and picking frivolous little fights.

Questioning your government, and not trusting the government to do the right thing a fair portion of the time are two different animals. Do I agree with everything the government does? Not at all, but I do trust them to get it right once in a while, we ARE human after all.
