Dumb BS That People Post on Facebook Thread

Since a recurring theme in the Pet Peeve thread is the dumb, insane things we see on Facebook, I thought I'd see how far a thread goes dedicated to adding things that make you bang your head on the desk when you see them every time you log onto your (least) favorite social networking site.

I'll start us off with one of the idiotic things I saw recently.

When I was a kid, I didn't have a computer, XBox, or Wii. I had a bike and a curfew. My toys were the outside world. If I didn't eat what my mom made, I didn't eat & I dealt with it. I didn't dare to talk back & I got in BIG TROUBLE if I did. Life wasn't hard, it was life... And I survived. Repost if you appreciate the way you were raised!

I swear one of my coworkers was going off about having this same thing posted by someone they said was a Facebook addict just the other day.

I hate those chains. I hate the requests from people you don't know. Hell, I hate some of the requests from people I do know. Why isn't there a {FUCK NO} option for requests. Like the assmunch meathead-jock who was a absolute asshole to me and most everyone... I'd like to friend some of these people just to publicly retract said "friendship".

I hate Fbook.

Why do I have it, you ask?

As an actor... it's nice to have around. That's it. That's all. I could live without the nuissance.

A Facebook junkie posted this. She is more attached to posting banal wall posts than anybody else I know. That runs contrary to any spewing of condemnation of people who grew up with technology.

Anything religious on Facebook gets a quick ignore. Other than, I'm highly intolerant of ass-hatery. I don't want to see it on my Facebook, so I kick people off for that stuff.

This sounds like something I said in response to augmented reality games on Facebook.

Back in my day we did have these Pet Eyes and Raiders of Faces, we augmented our reality with Power Gloves, VR Goggles and hallucinogens! You kids with your iPhones and 3DSes make me wanna spit!

Look at this! When I rock back and forth, my beard swings. Wasted frames of animation, I tell you!

It's the "holier than thou" and "back in my day things were better" attitude.

I grew up with video games and played the shit out of them, like most people here I suspect. I still remember going outside and playing with my bike, roller skates, stilts, water balloons, super soaker, boomerang, and r/c car at various points of my childhood. I also remember playing with lincoln logs, slinkies, Legos, Nerf dart guns, Nerf footballs, and all sorts of action figures. I don't see why that person's childhood experiences have to be mutually exclusive with video games.

The next generation of people will be saying exactly the same thing. It doesn't matter how high-tech our toys get, some parents will be twats and some children will be just as spoiled as when stilts were all the rage and candy was only worth pennies. I'm not saying it's not a valid sentiment - I too wish more parents would actually parent their kids - but it's not any different now than before.

I don't see anything wrong with the sentiment personally. Yeah the Holier than thou is a bit vexing, and I don't care for the chain part at the end either (was late @ night when I was reading it) but the over-all sentiment I feel is bang on - Too many greedy & needy shits today and society has gotten a lot worse for it.

Now, had he gone to say we should start some kind of crusade against all this then that'd be nuts lol, but I do appreciate the undertone of what he said.
