(CNN) - Fox News Channel anchor Glenn Beck will end his daily show later this year to develop and produce a variety of television projects to air on the channel, according to a release Wednesday.
The new agreement between FNC and Mercury Radio Arts will ensure Beck appears on the television network and through other "digital properties."

"Glenn Beck is a powerful communicator, a creative entrepreneur and a true success by anybody's standards. I look forward to continuing to work with him," Fox News Chairman and CEO Roger Ailes said in a statement.
"Glenn Beck" launched in 2009. The host previously hosted a show on CNN's sister network HLN.
Howard Kurtz, Washington bureau chief for The Daily Beast and host of CNN's "Reliable Sources" said the split was a "divorce many months in the making."
"By the end, both sides wanted out," Kurtz said in an email. "Beck's show proved too radioactive for Fox, and the network became an uncomfortable home for Glenn Beck."

The word behind the scenes is apparently he's too batshit crazy even for FOX, so much so that even the other newscasters wouldn't appear on his show or back up what he says. He lost something like half of his sponsors after he called Obama a racist last year.

While he's not gone totally, at least his show is done. Thank God. One down, but still too many left to go.

Not that I care much for Beck, I'm more over there with Dennis Miller these days, but where was the party when Olbermann was quite literally asked to leave MSNBC?

That was actually bigger news because he broke policy by giving campaign contributions last year and wouldn't own up to it. Back's departure seems to just be a compatibility thing.

I'm not all that familiar with Keith tbh, but the clips I've seen of him aren't even half as crazy as the shit Beck says...

I mean seriously, Beck was TOO CRAZY FOR FOX! He actually out-crazies O'Reilly & Hannity to the point that he's gotta get off the air. That says something.

Not that NBC is without their own whackos, but come on. I think that was awfully stupid that they made Keith resign over that as well for a multitude of reasons;

- There's no such thing as truly biases journalism. The only way to get it would be to have a machine deliver the news to us instead of people since machines don't have emotions. or thoughts.

- It's not like these networks don't contribute to the two parties anyway - FOX openly gave how many millions to the republican party last time around? So why are individuals working for said company then prohibited from donating? That just seems like a rather arbitrary double-standard.

Don't mistake my positions here as simply defending the left - I'm just calling out the bullshit, irrespective of ideology. There's actually only a handful of people I like over at NBC anyway. I for one, find it puzzling that Brian Williams is only one for half an hour every weekday when he's their best anchor by far. The guy's a real class act and is dedicated to his job, unlike oh so many other "reporters" I could name. Tom Brokaw is also pretty good, and then there's the late Tim Russert I really miss that guy, David Gregory is a piece of shit.= (Jon Stewart called him out and aired a clip of him admitting that he doesn't research the topics for discussion prior to Meet the Press shows because it's "Not his job". Err, excuse me?! I think it is asshole.)


Now if someone could just get Hannity & Limbaugh off the air...

I used to listen to Beck a few years ago, before he got his TV show... before he went crazy. He used to be good and entertaining, but right around the time he got on TV it seemed to me he went off the deep end, and it basically was just one long rant.

Honestly, I can respect the guy for standing for what he believe in and speaking his mind, I just think some of his positions are a little off base.

Eh, you actually have around a 50~60% chance to survive being struck by lightning. I think a more fitting end would be one of the plagues or other horrors God's inflicted on people in the Bible. Just for the irony/poetic justice.

Put it this way - Ben Affleck has appeared on SNL to do Olbermann skits and its hard to tell who is more hilarious - Affleck because he's so spot-on with his take on Olbermann or Olbermann himself. The difference is Ben Affleck knows what a self-righteous twit sounds like and Olbermann probably hasn't ever stopped to listen to what he says.

Another way of putting it is Rush Limbaugh is quite aware of his big ego and loves to play on that for part of his humor. Limbaugh knows part of his role is to entertain his audience. Olbermann is not aware of his inflated ego, is not there to use it to intentionally entertain in anyway and thinks he is there to bring attention to issues for great justice.

You have not sat and listened to Hannity. He's nothing of this sort and even liberals would tell you that.

I beg to differ, and yeah I have heard more of him than just random clips off the Daily Show or Colbert Report. Hannity is out of his mind. (Speaking of which though Jon has called him out before and the last time he actually openly admitted it on his show and apologized for it amazingly enough.)

O'Reily is the only sane one over there, which isn't saying much
