Well that hack I posted just makes everything free. But it does mean that it would be possible to play the game without spending several hundred dollars on gems to unlock everyone by hacking it as the prices all seem to be stored clientside.

According to your link there's some defaults clientside but the game hits up a server to get the latest prices. The hack set up an HTTP server and reroutes requests for prices to it. There was a hack for Pokemon Diamond/Pearl that behaved similarly, redirecting your DS to a Python script on your PC instead of the Nintendo trading center to let you download hacked Pokemon from your PC. So is the game worth buying? From what TM posted it looks like SimCity with ponies.
It's really more like FarmVille with ponies, with minigames, very light strategic elements, a quest system, and decent production values. It's free to play, so if you get a kick out of filling up progress bars (or economic analysis *cough*) I'd say it's worth the price. Certain buildings and characters are locked behind a pay wall. It costs $8 to get Rarity in your town, for example, which is absurd enough but Celestia costs ten times that. Afaik, most of the premium items are entirely dispensable, but you may need the mane 6 to complete the story.
At the point that I need gems to progress, I'll probably just stop playing. The entire point of games like this for me is figuring out the most efficient ways to reach goals and filling up those progress bars. If I can change the prices arbitrarily then there's no game. If I want to see the ending that badly I'll just look it up on youtube.
What the hell were they smoking when they set these price points, though? Even buying in bulk, Rainbow Dash costs $33 worth of gems to unlock, so just getting tiny models of the mane 6 running around in your town would cost over $50! Who on earth would pay that?
Yeah what I'm thinking of doing is finding out what the ponies in the same level range cost and switching the cost to bits. I think doing that Rainbow Dash will cost about 40k Bits for example instead of $33.
And for $50 I could get an entire set of custom made plushies of the Mane Six XD
Also found this out while playing the MLP iPhone game.
Well first of all, you know when you see the Ponies together talking and they sometimes start dancing? And sometimes they do the Pony Gangnam Style dance? Well Pinkie Pie does The Worm.
she actually used the phrase "dark side." YOU ALL WERE THINKING IT TOO; ADMIT IT.
Sweetie Belle was the voice of reason, though. I wish they had driven home the point that they should've talked to Applejack in the first place just the tiniest bit more, though.

However much I am actually smart, I got that way by confronting how stupid I am.
I thought the "should've talked to Applejack" thing was a bit of a cop-out. I felt the better moral was that people aren't just good or bad, but they do the things they do for a reason, and you should try to understand those reasons rather than reacting to what's on the surface. That's a bit heavy for what is, after all, primarily a kids' show, so "If you're in over your head, get help from an adult," will do. Just goes to show you can appreciate the show on multiple levels.
Eh, I'll agree to that, but it's not like she has fierce competition. She does kindof need her own episode, though, much as I hate to say it. Applebloom and Sweetie Belle each got one, and already had some characterization due to being related to one of the Mane 6. Scootaloo hasn't been fleshed out much by comparison.
