That whole third-person thing was discussed hell and back at EQD. Considering the way Luna talks, it actually fits! (Majestic plural - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia)

I have to agree with the disappearance of Rarity. I mean, this holiday was made for her! Unless she's passed out from fatigue after making everyone's costume! That is her only alibi.

Oh, and I also forgot to mention that I liked seeing Zecora again. Obviously everyone knew Luna was reappearing in this episode, but Zecora was a nice surprise.

I didn't really buy the resolution to that episode. The citizens seemed genuinely afraid, and they play it off like it's totally normal to invite the serial axe murderer back to your house next year because running for your life is fun.

I don't think the conclusion was necessarily wrong, but it could have been written better. Basically Luna was bothered by the nature of the holiday from the moment she showed up, and at least Pipsqeak and Pinkie were suspending their disbelief for fun. The problem was that everything she did to make things worse stole the focus from the original problem, so the resolution felt off when it came.

Still. Fun episode. Pinkie and Twilight were well written. Definitely some exploitable images in there but not super heavy with forced memes like the last one.

Luna's way of speaking definitely led to many laughs, but when she was returned to just plain ol' Luna in season one, she said "I'm so sorry!" Now she speaks as if she was Venom or something, referring to herself as if she is more than one character, calling herself "we" for example.

I'll grant you that it presents a continuity issue, but using the royal "we" isn't the same as whatever it is that goes on with Venom and the double personalities it harbors. It's like saying "I", except it indicates that the user is so much better than you, you damn dirty peasant. It's a real thing. The ye olde English suffix usage bothered me more to be perfectly honest.

To be fair, "I'm so sorry" can be justified because she was saying it to her older sister, fellow royalty. Using the royal "we" there would've been, well, unfitting.

So basically, despite Rarity not ever showing up, her voice actress was talking THE WHOLE EPISODE.

So it's basically confirmed that Rarity was, in fact, too tired to make an appearance.

Friend of mine told me it was confirmed Rarity had one big scene in the episode that had to be cut out, thus removing her altogether. This came up in conversation so I don't have source right now.
