In Disgaea: Hour of Darkness, there are 9 endings.

Good Ending
Bad Ending 1
Bad Ending 2
Normal Ending
Earth Conqueror Ending
Flon Ending
Etna Ending
Chuu-Boss Ending
...and Game Over (Not really an ending... but it has it's own unique CS)

You'd have to check a FAQ site to get the details on how to get each of the endings, but those are them.

In only 1 of them does Laharl actually die.
