Then again how many specials did they give Carlin in contrast to HBO? None, the man dared to speak what he thought. They backed out on Bill Mahar, too. Comedy Central seems more than happy not to offend.
That's why they are two of my favorite Comedians.

Comedy Central isn't everything comedy could be, but they get things right 50% of the time, mostly by luck.

The thing that gives me hope about the future of Egypt's democracy is that they have an educated populace. Democracy doesn't really work if your citizens are illiterate & believe whatever they're told by clerics or whackadoodle talk show hosts. An educated populace might be able to exert some critical thinking skills rather than gut reactions.

        Let's hope, anyway.

              Re: Egypt

Oprah would probably make a more sensible President than Grizzly Mama and other nutters seeking the job--just have to make sure she doesn't pilfer the Treasury to buy presents to giveaway to the studio audience members.

Keep in mind this woman, born out-of-wedlock to a poverty-stricken childhood, made her own fortune by excelling in the cutthroat business of daytime talk shows then spinning that into a media empire--that's entrepreneurial spirit if there ever one. There's steel behind that flabby emotional exterior.
              Bamboo shadows sweep the stars,
              yet not a mote of dust is stirred;
Moonlight pierces the depths of the pond,
leaving no trace in the water.

If I were given a chance to vote for Opera, I'd do it in a heartbeat. No particular reason.

That's heartwarming and all, but it doesn't stop her from being like so many other media figures that like to tackle what they perceive as big issues when they have little to no factual basis for the crusades they take on.

Sometimes she does good, sometimes she blows it big time, but when you have an audience as brainwashed as hers there's little stopping her when she does wrong.

Now go out and buy Kinect for Xbox 360, Oprah said it was good, yo.

It doesn't have but two real games for it, but hey, smashing success since she endorsed it.

If only Sony had given her some money to endorse Move, heh.

I only said Oprah would be better than the nut cases; I didn't say she's the most fitting person.

Plus, she'd be more careful with her advocacy if her role in our society changes, I would think.

I'd rather have Oprah than Mike Huckabee. He strikes me as one of those "we need to turn the US into a theocracy" types.

There's a lot of socio-nut cases that just got recently voted into Congress, probably on the backs of closeted-sociopaths. Not that there weren't already socio-nuts in the first place. These guys are probably just relieving the "old guard" as it were. I think that one segment on the Daily Show nailed it best when their reporter descended on Washington D.C. in a self-righteous expose on corruption and ended up being ensnared in that very thing he was suppose to enlighten the rest of the country to.

Wasn't that John Oliver talking about Chicago or something like that?

Anyway, I like Oprah, but idk about her being in the government. In contrast, Donald Trump may seriously run for office this time. He's thought about it many times before and has always said no, but he did an interview with Piers Morgan recently and it's looking more and more like he will.

Again, don't really agree with a lot of his hard-right positions, but I do think he'd be able to get a lot of shit done that needs to be, like getting China's dick out of America's ass.

No, not him, the black reporter - forgot his name. This was the week before their "Rally to Restore Sanity" event late last year.
