Ya why is beer legal? I always wondered about that. It makes people dumb and do dumb things, but it's allowed anyway. And 90% of fights always start in bars and locations that sell drinks. So why?

Beer/Alcohol does not make people stupid. Its just that to many stupid people over drink.

Consuming Alcohol is safe amounts is very acceptable and leaves you with your common sense.

Was taking a taxi to Azabu-Juuban one night from Meguro and the taxi driver started talking to me about American films. He honestly thought that bars in America were constantly having big ass bar room brawls like in some movies.

Yeah.

He was really nice, though. Most taxi drivers were afraid to talk to me, being the white guy and all.

Beer sucks. I wish I could taste it like most people do, I see them down it like a fish in water. Just can't stand that bitterness or something.

Beer can actually be surprisingly healthy.

The problem lies in 2 areas:
1) Mass-produced beer often has other products in it that aren't necessary for the actual brewing and because it's mass-produced, often uses a lower quality of ingredients.
2) People consume too much of it at one time. It doesn't matter what it is, if you have too much of it, you die.

The problem isn't alcohol, or alcoholic beverages, it's people and their control (or lack) of themselves.

Theirs been many campaigns around at the moment in europe to try and kerb the increasing worry of drink drivers.

When I was a firefighter we cut out to many people out of cars due to drink driving related accidents and have had to deal with many fatalities. The problem in france is getting critical and the government decided to put out this hard hitting campaign, its realistic and not for the feint hearted.

Alcahol is so freely availiable and most european countries you only have to be 18 to buy it along with all the current offers we get such a reputation for being alcaholics. Its worse in the Uk with our "Binge drinking culture" you are an outcast if you don't drink and in some respects if your not "one of the crowd" then your a target.
