    Parking ticket for car with lines painted beneath it

    An accountant from Manchester returned to her car after work and found it parked facing the opposite direction, with a fresh set of yellow lines painted underneath.
    Nice to see they reversed the decision on the ticket. Where English parking enforcement is concerned you generally have more chance of seeing the Red Sea being parted.

    Wow. At least it was overturned though, it would've sucked to have to pay that ticket. Would've been funnier if it was a handicapped parking ticket though.

      I imagine that's rather hard to see from England, as well.



      That said, I haven't heard of a crime story this reminiscent of Looney Tunes ever since that one time (not all that long ago!) a bank was robbed . . . by people digging a tunnel underneath it!

          "Parking ticket for car with lines painted beneath it
          An accountant from Manchester returned to her car after work and found it parked facing the opposite direction, with a fresh set of yellow lines painted underneath.

          Accountant Sally Barker had parked her Peugeot 206 CC on Little Quay Street that morning, near her office. There were no yellow lines on the road and no parking restrictions in place.

          But the council was so keen to get new double yellow lines painted that it used a tow truck to hoist the car into the air while it did the work.

          A parking ticket was issued immediately, though after being challenged by the Manchester Evening News, council workers replaced it with a note reading, 'your car has been repositioned by the council'.

          Parking enforcement agency NSL defended the placement of the ticket, which it says was done to prevent another warden issuing a ticket later. It was immediately declared void and wouldn't have led to a fine.

          That didn't abate Mrs. Barker's anger, however, who said: “To find out that the council moved my car, without my permission and then placed it on double yellow lines they had just painted is disgraceful. I suggest they close the road prior to putting the restrictions in place.”

                      keeping on the subject of Manchester drivers are strange in that city, like the ones who try and beat the bollards in bus and special vehicle only areas in the shopping centre part.

                      Theirs huge flashing signs that tell drivers about the bollards and only entry to emergency vehicles, buses and mail vans.

                        See if we had bollards here, people that pulled stunts like that would sue the city.....and probably win!!

                          That is fucking ridiculous right there. Really? You had to use a crane to lift her car? Couldn't go into the surrounding buildings and check to see if anyone owned it and would move it? I'd be so pissed if that were my car.
