Yes google hires a bunch of people to input stupid stuff into their search engine, stuff that just happens to also produce results related to the search term.

Undoubtedly there are a few hidden easter eggs, but the vast majority is put there they same way sites are put into googles cache in the first place, their spiders and people searching for the terms.

Googles actual easter eggs (ie [ame=http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&safe=off&&sa=X&ei=KMssTJOUC4G0lQfO0KiXCg&ved=0CBEQBSgA&q=40+rods/hogshead+in+mpg&spell=1]40 rods/hogshead in mpg - Google Search[/ame] ) are pretty obvious and refer to known pop culture.
