    Memorial Day



    I would like to remind people that this day is not just another reason for a barbecue. Today is a remembrance of the all the people in the Armed Forces that we've known, and also those we didn't, that have given their lives to protect our way of life. Ordinary people, just like you and I, that die doing their job which is to defend our nation. Take a moment today to remember that please and remember how blessed we are.

    I have have/had many family and friends serve our great nation and some died doing so. One friend lived through horrific events in the Vietnam War and then the aftermath to follow after he returned home. This weekend he was involved in an accident on his motorcycle. <insert HUGE fucking rant about people that turn left in front of you> Most of us are banged up but fine, he's not going to make it.

    PLEASE be careful out there! It's summer now with lots of parties and fun but just be careful.

    I am sorry to hear that your friend isn't going to be ok. I absolutely hate it when people don't watch for motorcycles. There aren't words to say that won't seem trite.

    Thanked for remembering and posting the reason that we ought to be celebrating Memorial Day.

          It's all well and good, but I'm afraid it's Somebody Else's Holiday ... I'm in Canada, and we had Victoria Day the week before this, so it just feels kind of weird...
