    Nobody is saying this, either.

      You're right.

      But my question is.

What is so stupid about what they're doing? lol

It's not actually a question of whether it's stupid or not, of course it's stupid. They're kids. Kids do stupid things and enjoy stupid fads. That's part of being a kid. Not every kid was into the same fad and hell, not every kid was ever actually into a fad. But kids being a part of a stupid fad, for whatever reason or whatever the fad is, is completely normal and expected.

The only reason why this is even news is because the fad has some (non)connection to a mentally handicapped girl who believes something similar to what the kids in the fad are saying and did something that most people see as gruesome or disturbing.

Seriously, South Park already covered the concept behind this fad with their whole vampire episode. So if people really want to do deal with it there's really one one thing to do. Go and burn down the Hot Topic.

If you roleplay in a video game, it's a sign that you're looking for a way to relieve boredom. If you constantly have to roleplay a mythical creature in real life to feel good about yourself, it's a sign that you need help.

Granted, it's not like teens joining cliques to gain acceptance is anything new, but when you manage to look even more ridiculous than the average goth, yeah, I would have to describe the fad as stupid.

I see.. It may just be a matter of opinion. I think RPing in general is stupid. I play a game to ease my boredom.. If I am bored playing the game and need to RP to make it fun, then I should probably go occupy my time with something else totally different.

I can't really explain why this pisses me off so much, but it does. I did some stupid things in high school, but none this stupid.

Technically I guess I qualify as having been a jock since I played football, wrestling, and track in high school, though I've played RP videogames my entire life and to some extent qualify as a nerd. LARP, TTRPGs, and card games(MTG etc., not like poker) have always been a bit too far into the nerd spectrum for me.

The older I get the more I want to slap the crap out of the kids who do stuff like this, not for them being nerdy or imaginative, but for them wussifying the ever-living shit out of these things. You want to be a vampire or a werewolf? Okay, but one thing is important: VAMPIRES AND WEREWOLVES ARE FUCKING MONSTERS. They do not shop at American Outfitters and Hot Topic, they do not have shitty emo swoosh haircuts, they do not listen to Fallout Boy, THEY FUCKING EAT PEOPLE. STOP GAYING UP MY HORROR MONSTERS.

Here's the difference between RPers and stupid high schoolers:

RPers don't wear their role in public. Whether you LARP, RP in an MUDs and MMOs, RP in DnD, or whatever else, you don't go out (except to events for likeminded people, like Ren Fests, conventions, or on Halloween) wearing that stuff in your daily life. You don't tell your classmates how you're a level 56 black mage on a quest to stop Goku from invading Mordor or whatever other little quest you're involving yourself in (except maybe some WoW players; that has enough mainstream appeal now that I've seen people talk about it openly, but never in the context of RPing, beyond "You're horde? Booooo, you sock").

Stupid high schoolers do this shit for the clique, the fashion, whatever else, oftentimes even when they themselves find it stupid. By definition, most things high schoolers do is stupid.

Didn't have any RPers in my high school, we had goth kids that got nowhere with thier lives, though. Big surprise there.

It was strange though, it seems like the goth kids had to settle for jobs at flower shops since Hot Topic was always staffed enough. Annually I would got get flowers to honor a dead friend and there were the goth kids from high school. It was either the nice old lady or some bickering goth kids swearing at each othe.

I guess they settled for the Flowerama because the flowers there are on the verge of death and death is cool to them.

I did do musicals in high school, only ever got one speaking part. Well I was Millie's angry boss in Seven Brides for Seven Brothers. Well, more like her loud boss, I was the only un-miced actor on stage because it was mostly just yelling and I can get very, very loud when I need to.

But roleplay outside of that? No.

I'd sometimes do impressions, its something I have a knack for, but I'm not much for maintaining a silly game role.

You can have an imagination and think RPing is dumb. Not everyone with an imagination RP's. You should have quoted Feba, not me. He's the one calling High Schoolers dumb for having an imagination.

Hmm.. I still fail to see why they're stupid. There isn't annual conventions for people who think they're werewolves, just the people who want to cosplay as a fictional character from a CARTOON. Other people may call them stupid, but it's ok to do this cause it's justifiable by Feba;s standards.
But, heh. It does boil down to a matter of opinion.
