Good luck. Stay safe. We are all hoping for peace on the streets of Thailand.

I'm guessing baht is the money over there right? So they are burning down buildings in protest against what it costed, and now they are costing the rest of the country money now....

      Hope you stay safe Jei.

Yeah, it sounds like they are going about this "protest" the wrong way. Not saying I know what a better way is, but destroying buildings can't help the city's/country's infrastructure. They certainly have the government's attention, but I doubt the government is just going to roll over and give the PM job back to Shinawatra. Hopefully someone steps up soon and helps ease this tension. Hang in there, and be careful.

The way I understand it is the old PM, Shinawatra, did a lot for the common man's financial and social situation. The Red Shirts are made up of a lot of these common folk from the rural parts of the country. Unfortunately they have no respect for the city of Bangkok itself and feel they can just burn it all. There is a theory that they are being paid to go to Bangkok and protest. This has not been proven though.

Gah. 2,000 more armed red-shirts are approaching Bangkok. Tonight we expect a big gun fight in the city. We're now on curfew from 7PM (it's 10PM now) until 8 PM tomorrow. No one's suppose to leave their house.

I had a co-worker transfer to the Raffles Hotel in Bangkok a couple months ago. I think she just recently got another transfter out of Thailand to Japan. Thank god.

GL Jei, that's some scary stuff.

I'm sure he would leave if they actually let him. No one is allowed out of their houses... which I understand is probably to try and reduce casualties but nothing's gonna save someone against a fire...

Holy crap, Jei. Stay safe. Things are really out of control over there.

I've been keeping an eye on the situation there over the past couple years - it's been brewing for a long time. I'm not really sure which side to believe - or where the truth really is, but it's never good to see such self-destructive behavior.
