    Power Suit? You want one?

    Well its about that time, that we can start owning our own power suits.

    CYBERDYNE's
    Robot Suit HAL

    What's "HAL" (Hybrid Assistive Limb®)? - CYBERDYNE

    These guys are renting them out for about 1k a month, and will start selling them outright soon.

    They increase the users strength 10 fold, and can run for about 3 hours off a full charge. They don't look to bad neither.... but I would rather one in black, with dark purple LEDs instead of the white with blue ones. ;p

    With a little modding and hacking..... some people could do some crazy things with this item.

    Cool, but it'll still be a very long time before we see anything like Mjollnir or Iron Man's suit.

        If I remember correctly, they've been testing previous versions of HAL in some hospitals in Japan to lift people that couldn't move by themselves, so it's been around, or in development, for quite a while.

        Doesn't really show anything impressive, just the guy lifting about 90lbs of rice but it's still interesting.

          I have an issue of Nipponia on my language shelf with the same dude making the exact same pose on the cover, in a suit that looks exactly the same.

          It's dated May '06.

            Technology for power suits and electric cars and crap have been around for a very long time. The only reason we don't have that stuff in mainstream is that previously, you couldn't profit from it.

            In some ways, the HAL is better than the Mjolnir (Their spelling) Mk 1 Prototype, and I think if the US military seriously wanted to dump billions into making those, they could right now. Without, of course, the neutral linkups and it'd be bulky as hell. However, Mark IV that John-117 uses in the first Halo game is most definitely a long way away.

              yeah so, they have been making the thing for a good while now, I did not post it as a "omg look at the brand new item"

              There where no posts about it here, and I wanted to see who all wanted to get one, or other things about the suit.

                Kailea, why are you always so defensive? I'm just pointing out that they haven't made any apparent progress on it in four years.

                  Back to the suit, I'd like one to wear to Anime Conventions. One of those Power Suits painted black plus a new tron outfit ftw! I might want to rent one if I could get it for a few days at a decent price, but $1000 no thanks!

                    They did have a picture of a similar suit in a sort of gunmetal bluish color.

                      Didn't really get to look around to see it (was skimming the site before work), but that would actually be pretty sweet.

                              Unfortunately "HAL" is currently offered only for residents of Japan. A branch office has been established to introduce "HAL" to the clients in EU.
