how do you register at nicovideo.jp?
someone showed me a guide but it's outdated. there's no huge pink button, and the site is very confusing.

The instructions I used are from: The Next Web How to register for Japanese video site Nico Nico Douga
Paste that into google and it should be the first link.

But the front looks different now, I think, so I'll explain below.

Go to the main page of niconico douga. (nicovideo DOT jp)
Press the red text at the top near the center of the page (It says "LOG IN" in Japanese).
Press the orange button beneath the boxes where you log in.

Press the big silver/gray button on the right.

That should take you to registration page.

You don't have to add as much information anymore.

In this order:

1. E-mail address (you'll log in using your e-mail address, just so you know)
2. Nickname
3. Gender (first is male, second is female)
4. Birthday (Year.Month.Day)
5. Where you're from (it used to only list regions of Japan, but it includes other countries now)
6. Password + reconfirm password
7. This last one is supposed to be your "secret question" and answer for password recovery, but they've changed it. You used to be able to write your own question, but it looks like you have to choose from a list now. I don't know what any of them are).

I didn't continue the registration process after that because I already have an account, but if you follow the instructions from the website I suggested from number 3 onward, you should probably be fine.

waaa I received no email confirmation and my login stuff I put in doesn't work. I made another account with another email but still no
activation mail. oh well.
