  • Scholarships and Grants help...

This is kinda hard for me to say so I will just say it.

I am looking to go to college but... I can not afford it, and I have been looking for a Scholarship and or Grants that I can use. Most of them are for Minorities, or are state-specific. I have been looking for over 10 hours now none stop, and nothing. I have been to over 70 websites, and have used at least 13 scholarship search engines with no results that apply to me.

I am trying to get into the AIP college for Visual Effects and Motion Graphics. I am a 19 year caucasian old male with Tourrets syndrome, ADHD, speech impediment, and some times stutters. I am no longer in high school as well. I have found that a lot of them want you to be a junior/Senior in high school. If anyone can help me find a scholarship or grant, I will REALLY appreciate it. Please help me find a scholarship, or grant.

AIP? Art Institute of Pittsburgh? I went there, until I transferred to Tampa.

I don't, unfortunately, have any advice on scholarships. I never did get any of them myself. There's got to be something out there for you, though, so I'd guess it's best to just keep trying, or even call the school and ask them if they're familiar with any.

    Good luck!

Yes, that is correct. Small world huh?

I will keep looking though. Its been a while now, and its getting really stresfull. I would love to go, but I can not afford the costs. Even with loans, it will be hard to do it as I need to pay for housing, food, materials and so on.

I have been told that I can ask for assistance with the Youth Service Burrel here in Conneticut as well as being unemployed at this time, the Department of Labor, but its too late to try and contact them.

Thank you for your support though!

Might the college be able to help? I mean, if anybody would know what specifically applies to them scholarship-wise, it's them...

Well, I have been unable to contact the financel aid for the college as they decided to move their room for reason. I forgot what the reason was that they gave me. Even my mother has tried. I even got so stressed out about trying to find something, I almost tossed my pc across my room as how stressful its been getting about it.

I tried the scholarship route but honestly most of the ones you can get come from your performance at the school. You should however be able to find a group willing to give you a scholarship due to your various psychological disorders. Try your local library for books on scholarships, try the web (fastweb.com, although I've never gotten anything there and dont know anyone who has.) and then if you hold a job anywhere, see if they offer you one.

I'm glad somebody said this . Fastweb.com is usually the first website that the financial aid office tries to pawn off on you to try. There is also another one that I can't think of off of the top of my head, but nobody I've known has ever gotten one. If I could get a scholarship or grant to go back to school, I definently would go back.

The only scholarship I was able to get when I was going to college was one from GM since my parents both worked for a local plant.

EVERYONE who I talk to has suggested this site but I get NOTHINBG from them lol. Right now I am trying for PCH, and other prize giveaways like those. Any little bit helps lol.

As for the job thing. I will have a part time job while in school so that might help. I could ask them. Thanks!

The best advice I can give is apply to everything. Put lots of ground work into it, because the more scholarships you apply to, the more likely you are to get a hit.

Community college and loans, first, and then secondary colleges, universities, and scholarships, second. A simple Stafford loan should be enough to cover a semester or two's worth of classes and books so you can take the classes and earn the grades that will get you into bigger, better colleges and universities. Entrance to a community college usually requires a high school diploma, or equivalent, and a few placement tests that will decide at which level you may begin taking classes at, depending on the subject. It's best to take mostly classes related to general education, with one or two in your intended major per semester. Those general education classes will most likely be easier to transfer, with major-specific classes usually being more difficult.

Stay at the community college until you're in the groove of things, and your grades are high enough to earn your admittance into another college or university. At that point, you'll have laid the ground work for applying for grants and scholarships.

You can look up your local community college online, most likely, and they're always happy to welcome new applicants.
