I don't know if this is the best place for this or not. But I played FFXI way back in 2004, and quit for WoW, after release. I of course remember Cecil from FFXI and when his big story broke when he joined EQ2 (I can' post link cause I haven't been on long enough, if you don't know the story just google Ceciliantas) I was laughing my ass off, just like I'm sure many of you were.
Well that was about the last I'd heard of that unil......fastforward 2010
I now play Age of Conan, and have off and on since open beta. I have a 80 Barb, but I was playing an alt, female Necro in Tortage, when I see a lvl 5 DT running around named Ceciliantas. I of course think this is some kind of joke because after he humiliated himself, why on earth would he come back for 2nds.
Keep in mind, I am a dude playing a female character. So I'm running around tortage and I get a group invite. I'm kind of curious because my Necro is 17, which if you'd played AoC most of the lvl 5-10 stuff is solo quests. But I get a tell asking for help because the city quests are too hard for him. So I'm nice, and I accept invite.
So I'm thinking this guy is trying to be funny, so I say "nice name" and he says "thanks
" So I'm thinking that he knows what I know, and he understands that I think he did it as a joke.
Well he didn't say much while I was helping him. Then when we go to break group and he has to go he says:
"Thanks for the help beautiful
I'll put you on friends k? Nite hon."
I did not respond to this because at this point I think, no way is that him! This is a joke right. But I put him on friends to track because I have to find out.
This all happened last night, and I have to investigate more, but I am wondering is this really a joke or not.
My apologies to everyone here cause I know this is very loosely related to FFXI, but considering his infamous reputation here and EQ, I thought a few old timers might want to know. I haven't played FFXI in forever, and have moved on, but I know alot still love the game.
Anyway I don't want this to come off as trolling or something, so please forgive if it seems like that.
