So I get fairly bored when there's no new posts going up on any of my forums, so what I'll sometimes do (like today) is go back through my old subscriptions and read some old threads. It's kinda funny to see what sort of attitude I had then, or just reminisce about some things.

Well, I found this old gem in the thread where OFFICIAL Windowed mode was announced, and it made me lulz a bit.

I understand what you are saying aozora, and while I might find something like some of the plugins useful, the fact of the matter is, I'm not planning to do anything to give anyone any cause to ban me, after all the hard work I've done with my character.

If the extra plugins were, in fact, made into a LEGAL option, then I wouldn't have any problem with people using them. People like me who never want to take the chance of getting caught will never use something like that. If it were legal, yes, I'd probably use some of them. And then I wouldn't consider it unfair if others saw fit not to use them - for then, it would be their choice, and well within the ToS - to either add them or refuse. And if that's their playstyle, then that's their choice. Kind of like opting out of end-game LSes and never getting Relic armor because you don't want to put up with the drama - it's your choice not to get it, but it won't necessarily gimp you.

Oh, yes, the times have changed. In fact I may have been one of the biggest offenders here! It's cute that I once had a moral opposition.

So my challenge to all: Find an old post of yours. Really old! Something that we can all read and know that you've changed from then until now! Should make for some interesting discussion.

I'm really curious with this. I understand that dual axes can do massive damage and get great TP, and that after level 50 WAR/NIN with dual axes do colossal damage because of the Dual Weild II job trait, according to pretty much every high-level WAR who's commented on it, and everyone I know who's partied with WAR/NINs. My question is this: before Dual Weild II, which would do more damage over time - a Great Axe, or dual Axes? I know each has their merits and it's also very situational depending on skillchain and wether or not the enemy can be easily Shield Broken (if it's weak to ice,) that's why I'm asking in terms of damage over time. Also, I understand that Dual Weild II gives you Haste (along the lines of 10-15% I think,) but how exactly does Dual Weild I work? I'm hessitant to jump to the conclusion that it's merely the sum of both weapon's delay, because then dual axes would have even more delay than a Great Axe (since axes tend to have delays in the 300 range.) I'm currently a level 30 WAR levelling my extra sub jobs, and I understand that /NIN adds a few valuable abilities, so I'd really like to clear all my doubts about WAR/NIN. Thanks in advance.

Proof that there was, in fact, a time where I did not know everything. It was also a time where I was less full of myself.

Best I've got for now, sorry. But I figured the mere fact that I was asking if I should use Great Axe or Axe x2 is amazing enough.

Haha, 2004 holy crap. Wasn't 2h considered really gimp back then, and up until the 2h update?

It wasn't so much that 2-handers were seen as gimp so much as it was that Dual Wield was seen as the shit. Everyone was sucking Dual Wield II's dick, and that started to trickle down to Dual Wield I, so you started seeing a bunch of Lv.30 WARs with dual axes or centurion's swords. But hell, I used to be glad when I saw those simply because it wasn't sword+shield or spear or scythe.

But Shield Break's win transcends all ages.

Poking on Mal because he was saying info about the update was taking too long to appear.

My guess is that this delay means SE is dropping XI to work on the next gen MMOG.

Not from this forum, obviously, since I just recently joined. But here is an old one from another forum, my first post coming back to the game after thinking I had "quit".

Since we're locked out of the game due to updates, I figure now is as good a time as ever to say something.

I was originally going to only tell my LS, but I guess after a week, people start to notice I'm around again. Yes, I rejoined the game. No, the search comment I made when I came back:

"Stop sending me tells! Somebody from my college sold me this account"

...is not true (Damn it all to the hells, right?). I'm going to be back for about 4 months until college starts once more. Then I return to my university with my lousy laptop that still can't play this game. But since I'm playing on a good home PC, the game runs just fine this time around.

That's about it. Let's have an interesting 4 months...

Actually, I knew another one I could've used that was more game oriented about how RDM is supposed to play in parties. But I'm so embarrassed I said it I could not bear to requote it.

I remember refusing to be NIN because of the expensive tools and also because of the NIN defense issue. I am now lvl 17 nin lol which contradicts my above statement.

My problem is this, i always hated pting with nin because they would complain about some of the dumbest things. Like for example I was a DRG in a party with a WAR and a NIN. The NIN and the rest of the party agreed that they wanted me to backup tank....I of course had a problem with this because my defense isn't much better than the NIN. The NIN is like all you have to do is backup voke so i can utsusemi. I, of course, didnt see why i should've had to provoke because we had a Warrior that was a higher level than me who should've been backup tanking. What ended up happening was the warrior didnt provoke once in the whole fight. I was doing his job basically and came pretty close to death a few times.

To make a long story short. I've been in parties as a NIN and i've noticed alot of the WAR i fight with dont provoke when my shadows go down. I dont wanna mention it to the Wars and make them feel like a n00b and get pissed lol. So what would be the nicest way to mention that i need them to watch my shadows?

Damn...This was almost 3 years ago and I still hate NIN. I just respect it a whole lot more now that I have it to Subjob level.
