Not really. Some of the nicer/rarer guns out there can be pretty pricey. I've seen some really nice guns in gunshops go up to $1k, and they're definitely worth it. And let's not even talk about vintage guns, some of those are really pricey. I wouldn't really bat an eye at $450 for a gun if it was in good shape.

Wouldn't it be tricky to get a rifle or automatic into a store without the owners noticing though?

Actually situations like that have lead to the unique situation in the UK where owning small weapons like handguns is completely illegal (our Olympic Pistol shooting team has to train in Canada because of it ) yet you can own shotguns, rifles and automatics legally because they're too large to conceal. As long as they are for "pest control" of course . Badly worded laws FTW?
