Very sad, indeed. Great music from him, some of the best, brings me back to my childhood. And it was such a momentous occasion, they were even playing music on MTV.
I stayed up half the night watching MTV and BET as they played all MJ's videos.

Even though I am not a big fan of him, he was an icon of my childhood as he was for many others.
His decay over the last few years has not changed any of that.
I am sad.
For his musical talent and the changes he made to the music world, he will be missed.
On his other activities though . . . read below:
Farrah Fawcett died and went to Heaven.
When she got there, God told her she could have one wish.
She said "I wish for all the children of the world to be safe." . . .
I loved his music as well. I remember plenty of times when me and my brothers would dance with my mom to Michael Jackson's music as kids. Those were good times and great music. I hope he rest in peace from all the hate he's built over the last years of his life.

Kain (FFIV): I am aware of my actions, but can do nothing about them.
There are those that aren't going to understand what a tremendous force Micheal Jackson was because they were born well after it right into adulthood. Micheal faded from the music world during the 90s, but in the 80s there was no one bigger than Micheal Jackson - not one artist or band could stand up to this guy in terms of cultural impact. From the Jackson 5 to 90s, the man was just influential to the music world. Bigger than the Beetles or even Elvis, really.
For those that still don't get it - take Heath Ledger's performance in The Dark Knight and multiply that by about a million. That's how impactful Micheal Jackson was. When people came to protest his funeral for portraying a gay man in a movie, wasn't that just a bit crass? The whole pedo.
Lots of people make mistakes in their lives and there's nothing that can be done to change them in death. You can focus on only the bad late in life or you can also think of the good things that impacted you as you grew with that person existing in the world.
I mean, just look at all the people that probably wouldn't even have a career right now were it not for Micheal Jackson.
Weird Al Yankovic , for example. His parodies of "Bad" and "Beat It" were huge, some artists would say they felt they really had made it when Weird Al made fun of them (Coolio took it personal, though). The world would not have Wierd Al without Micheal. Paula Abdul probably wouldn't be our minds at all because she was Janet's friend and Janet wouldn't have made it if Micheal didn't.
Hell, he's even impacted Final Fantasy.

Bottom Line, the man was influential and he impacted the world in a way no artist has before or since.
