  • If you were in a fantasy world...

Alright so say you were somehow transported into a fantasy world. It doesn't matter what world, it could be Vana'Diel, Ivalace, Shannara, whatever. Assuming that for some reason, if you are defeated in battle you will actually be dead for good, what ability would you prefer to have?

EDIT: Some clarifications on the choices:

The powerful attack can only be used, say, once every day. It will finish off any and all foes you are currently facing(excluding some sort of boss), but after it is used offers no benefits till the next day.

The teleport is instant and returns you to a safe location of your choice. It can be used any time, anywhere. It can not be used in an offensive manner, such as attacking something from range and teleporting away when they get close, or teleporting behind someone, attacking them, then teleporting away.

A one-time resurrection ability assumes that whatever attacked you has wandered off and is no longer around. You are restored to full health. Lets go with the once per day thing again. Basically a second chance.

The summoning and healing abilities, like the teleport, can be used as much as you want. They can be used in multiple fights, but aren't as powerful as some of the others obviously. You would still need to win the fight or find a method to escape. Assume the companions are either disposable and weak(distractions), or powerful but you don't want them dead(friends). Your choice on that part.

    > A powerful attack to finish off foes.

    How many?

    > A quick teleport to escape if things go wrong.

Where to? There are few things more "fun" than a random warp.

    > A one-time resurrection ability (you remain in your location)

Only once? Then I'm screwed? I've been killed right after a Reraise before, and it's no fun.

    > A summoning ability to call companions to help out.

It's probably better to avoid the trouble in the first place.

    > A curative ability to heal damage.

That only goes so far when something is determined to kill you.

    > Other.

The ability to make mad money, please. Crafting, trading, whatever, when you have enough money you can hire people to keep you safe. From a safe distance, of course. Also, wenches.

I voted Quick teleport but it would depend on how limited it was.

Because if it was controllable and re-usable you could use it to fight Shinigami style (shunpo that is), which in my opinion would be the best in terms of offensive/defensive capabilities.

If I only lived once, I'll take my chances with "Other." A boat's a boat, but the "Other" could be anything! It could even be a boat!

We'll take the box I'll take the other.

Summoning. If I'm fighting anybody who can take out both myself and a being of my choice, then I am just being suicidal in picking my fights.

Given that money is practically free in Vana'diel, I'd probably just take up fishing for whatever gil I need. Stick to the major cities. Of the abilities listed, warp'd be damn useful.

Warp. I hate wasting time in transit. Hell, I'd even take "self-flight", so "other".

Flying (a la DBZ) has been a fantasy of mine, most def. I'd never be late to class or work because of the weather.

And I could fly above the clouds and get un restricted GPS access.

I wonder, if being that high up affects GPS locationing parameters (doesn't seem to bother planes), but then again, planes probably have specific- Ok, I'm stopping my tangent.

I'd go for "other", whatever that's going to be, because all the other choices: been there, done that...in my fantasy at least!

summon, this suppost to summon friends to help? OMG i would go fight the meanest nm ffxi has to offer and use that abil just to die and have my buddies die with me, or if im about to die and theres no way of beating the mob unless an alliance, on agro or something, then summon my friends cause no one likes dying alone.

I have to go with Other:

I hate the time it take to travel anywhere. *CoughFeiYinCough* I would pick a "Alliance Warp to Zone Entrance"

This way I can travel quickly to the beginning of any zone's entrance. If I so choose I can warp people who are party or allied with me.
