My problem ahs always been peoples inhabition to understand that their are real people the other side of the screen.

It seems in todays cyberworld, many peoples (mostly the younger generation) seem to think they are all high and mighty and can say what they want to anyone they want because they are safe behind their computer monitor with no real world come back to them.

about 95% of these people would not say the things they say to people on the net to their face in real life. Not only that but their are to many people who invent things about themselves to make them liked online or unliked as some times the case.

For instance Feba may be public enemy No 1 with many people on this forum and gets a kick from it with his comments, but in real life I bet he is a different person.

Actually, I think Sevv might be able to take that spot, Jarre. Feba's more like public enemy #742, with mebbie an asterisk on the side mentioning that he's not really that bad, just j-walked like once, and bumped into someone without saying sorry some other time...

Well being an older person and someone who's been on the net for a very long time, I have to agree with the different mentality of many younger people on it. Back in the day we went out of our way to help one another, understand our differences, communicate more efficiently with one another, etc. and I don't see a lot of that anymore. I still enjoy the net and meeting new people but I am MUCH more wary and have a lower expectation of people.

It's like in FFXI, I am conscious that people are spending their precious real life time to help me do something in game. So, with that in mind, I make sure I'm knowledgeable, on time, and don't afk unless absolutely necessary. But thats TOTALLY NOT what many people feel in game and it really is annoying. We recently did Dynamis-Tav and RIGHT after we were done someone logged on and was very irritated they missed it. Oooooook......the times are posted on the forum at least 3-4 days ahead of time and in the lsmes at least 24 hours in advance. It seemed they wanted us to wait for them since many times we go in late anyways. (Only because of people who don't respect the start times that are posted.) You know stuff happens and people log on late, I don't have a problem with that. What my issue is when they do it consistently with no regard to the rest of us that are standing around waiting.

Where the hell is Sev(v)? He hasn't contacted me in ages. If he won the lottery, he owes me a flight to England to pick on Val, because he promised. :p If any of you still talk to him, tell him I'm still holding him to that.

And Feba isn't all that bad. :p Unlike some other people on other forums who I want to throttle in their sleep, or send the grays after to ass-rape them.

In any case, I try to be polite online. Try. I'm extremely opinionated and stubborn, though, and that does not always walk nicely hand in hand with polite. I work on it. Though I don't recall ever stooping to an insulting level, save when someone else slung one first, and even that is rare. Most times I'll just drop the thread, if not the entire forum, depending on how pissed off I get with the idiots in question, and the issue at hand. If its a key issue that is severely detrimental to my respect for the participants in the thread and forum, I often just quietly scoot on to another corner of the world.

Sevv is on Lakshmi now unless he hopped servers again. I've run into him a couple times in Whitegate or the Apollyon lobby. He's still alive.

like I said, it's a true story. Total sham, youth court bullshit. Because my 'lawyer' was some high school kidfuckwit, the 'preparation' time you're supposed to get of course didn't exist. So he showed up at the court and decided to plead guilty. Gave me community service. Of course, I replied to the mostly-bullshit trial with mostly-bullshit service, so it evened out pretty well.

TM, what's with these medals of service?

I replaced that Brain/Keeper/Oracle of knowledge title with campaign medals every 500 posts. They keep going OVER NINE THOUSAND so even you still have some dings left.
