1- TGM, images that are considered too large should automatically resize. Last I checked, image size was only restricted in signatures, according to the rules.

2- Anyone that wants to see the full size image, just google the headline and it should be in the first few results on google or google images.

3- If you want a nice version, I believe it's in an Onion book titled "Our Dumb Century", or something along those lines. Nice big coffee table book IIRC; if nothing else you could slice the page out and frame that.

"(But please be courtious and keep the image sizes reasonable; or if it is very big, provide a link to it.) No one wants to sit there all day for your image to load just to read a post past yours. Severe violations will result in a warning followed by banning for repeated offenses."

We've received complaints about signature and forum picture sizes. Large pictures will be resized or a link will be provided.

I sometimes wonder why people need to compare and contrast something just to convince themselves something wasn't funny or as funny as something else.

Unless you saw the original and thus found this old and tiresome, which might also have something to do with why you pointed out the original. Not to mention that anyone that enjoyed the carbon-copy would enjoy the original.

As a compromise, changed the default settings for the image rescaling plugin. Remember that everyone can change their personal settings for this feature in their User CP under Thread Display Options.

I feel like I'm explaining a lot of jokes to people.... you're all blonde, aren't you?

The point of the "Man Walks on $%#..." and the entire Our Dumb Century book is to take news stories and rewrite them as if they weren't done by journalists. Basically, it's a holdover of what the entire Onion site is. It's like an inside joke for anyone who's studied journalism. What was the press like in the 60s? Still kind of sanitized, safe, emotionless or calming. How do you mess with that? Write about the moon landing as if everyone participating in it, and everyone writing about it is an internet blogger instead of astronauts and journalists. Pretend nothing was scripted or pre-planned. That was the joke.

The point of the Sony story was not to do this. Instead, they've taken an ad for something and rewritten it as if all of the reviews they'll get on the internet are desirable advertising product. We MEANT to have some guy describe our latest gizmo as a "fucking time vampire". We designed it exactly with this in mind.


It's a different joke. It's like the same joke, but only because it has a lot of dirty words in there that make you feel all naughty for reading/hearing.

Ok, now those of you following along should wait about 5 minutes for your tiny, pea-sized brains to register the funny... Now you can laugh.
