So, I made a post in an Obama thread here at FFXIO.

I revealed that I will be needed a double transplant. Feba inquired as to why, so I made this thread so as not to derail the other one.
This is just some information about the disease I have. It's called Polycystic disease. It's a hereditary disease though it can develop spontaneously as mine did. So yes, I am a mutant.
Basically, fluid filled cysts develop and grow on your internal organs. They mainly hit the kidneys, liver, ovaries, and brain. It has hit me in my kidneys and liver so far. This disease can be very mild for some and extreme to others. Mine leans more towards the....well on a scale of 1-10 its about a 8. Mine started creating havoc when I was in my late 20's and my doctor told me that I might not make it past 40 (HAH in your face!) and definately not to 60 (that sir remains to be seen!). Some people have this disease and never need a transplant (lucky buggers!) or don't have any problems until late in life (again, I was gyped!).
There are lots of annoying things with this disease and the biggest for me is PAIN. You also get kidney stones (MORE pain!), uncontrollable high blood pressure, issues when organs become very large, severe anemia, blah blah blah. It's a bitch. Believe it or not, its a pretty common disease too even though not many have heard about it. So I'm spreading the word! Maybe sometime in your life, you'll run into someone that will say they have it or a loved one of theirs has it and you'll be able to say "Hey, I know what that is!" Sounds corny but I really enjoy when I run into people that have actually heard about it.........and that includes medical professionals! I've met so many that go "Oh I've heard the name but I had no idea....." ><
The following are GRAPHIC (not dirty, sorry guys ) PICTURES of polycystic kidneys. If you don't like this kind of stuff DO NOT LOOK!
