Whatever caused the stampede, you have to realize that they might not have had much of a choice in the matter. Even if they had noticed anyone had fallen, they would've likely been trampled themselves if they had stopped. These things are unfortunate, but there's not really anyone you can blame.

The Car thing kinda reminds me of when I camped for a Wii back in 06 @ Target. I saw a Target Wii allocation list on the internet saying that Target was gonna have like 15 Wiis on Sunday. I drove out there at about 3-4:00AM and my dad had beat me to the line, he was the last person. We stood out there together for a little bit and then eventually he went back to the car to warm up and we took turns standing in the line. During this time more people were coming up and we were just swapping in and out probably every 30 mins. This lady pulled up in a truck while I was out there and I guess she was driving back and fourth between Target and Toys R Us, she saw me standing out there and had the nerve to ask other people if I cut in line, I was like WTF. I guess that might've been because the first time she drove by, my dad was standing out there instead of me. Eventually they went out and handed out vouchers for the Wii. They handed one to everybody in the line and the lady was sitting in her car at the time that they came out and they passed her one as well. There was a husband and wife standing behind me in the line and they left for Toys R Us about 10 mins before they handed out vouchers. When they handed out the vouchers I think there were 23-25 in all, we all looked around for the husband and wife. Before they got back, some random dude walked up and got handed the last one, he was lucky as hell lol.

Of course after they opened the doors of the store at 8 (They handed out vouchers at around 7:00.) The husband and wife came back and were floored because they didn't get a voucher, since they had left, and only those with vouchers were able to get Wii's.

Only other time I remember camping out in line was when I went to gamestop to pickup GTA: San Andreas. Allegedly Gamestop was gonna have 2 lines: 1 line (VIP) for people that had pre-ordered and could cut the line; and another line for people who didn't. Of course when everybody showed up there was only 1 line. The only way they'd let you into the store (VIP) was if you showed your receipt at the door then you could cut everybody in line. I had the VIP Pre-Order pass but instead of cutting, I stood in line talking with the other peeps about how cool the game was gonna be. I stood outside until I got up to the door and then showed my VIP and went in. I was late getting back to my class but oh well spawn camping was fun as hell. The people that cut missed out on interesting convo with fellow gamers lol.

It would be nice to see some sort of system in place at Walmart where when you arrive you are given a ticket with a number. Then before the doors open they say "Numbers 1-50 line up." and only allow those through. Then wait for a couple minutes till they dissapate and then "51-100 line up" and then let that chunk in. But that would cost them some money because they'd have to have 1 or 2 staff there throughout the night and probably more for crowd control before the doors open. They'd have to dip in to those profits! *GASP*

Ya my son pre-ordered from Gamestop for GTA too. We had an interesting time in line though. LOL The line extended to the doors of the mall, which weren't too far from where we were standing. A guy came into the mall, ran up to the people behind us, stood there for about 30 seconds and then did a faceplant right at our feet. If I had shuffled my foot an inch, I would have kicked him in the head. There was a pool of blood and people were freaking out. Thats a game release I won't soon forget! LOL

No, I can't blame anyONE. I blame the group and the mob mentality that caused it to happen. Because of that I doubt any of the shoppers will be held responsible and instead Wal-Mart will somehow be held at fault because their customers are retards.

They haven't said much about the store surveilance tapes but they did say once on the news that they've been trying to make out who the people on the tape were that trampled him from cellphone cams and pictures which are all grainy and hard to make out. So I pretty much think all the people are gonna get away.

Wow, until I read this thread yesterday, I had never heard of Black Friday in regards to shopping in all of my 28 years.

I never really paid attention to such things, I guess. Holiday shopping wasn't anything me or my family really did; we just kinda picked things up for each other over the normal course of our day.

Completely off topic and completely late, but if it makes you feel any better I've known about it for more than a decade... and I live in another country.
