Shannyn Moore: Stolen Election from Alaska? <- not so much, but I would like to look into the background of the numbers sometime.

I'm too sleepy to talk about it much right now, but interesting. Why do I get the feeling that the federal government is going to have to start handling Alaska's politics so that that place can actually function?

From experience, I can tell you Alaskans are WEIRD.

Locals can walk down the street and see a bunch of weird shit going on and not even take a 2nd look.

Anything that happens there doesn't surprise me one bit, but I still doubt someone is tampering with the elections.

It still amazes me Stevens could even run. So convicted felons can't vote (and imo shouldn't be allowed to) but a convicted felon can still be elected to the Senate. Thats more than slightly f***ed up. Show some integrity and step down.

Very side note since this involves a Senate race. WTF is up with Georgia? I can find the numbers, but nothing explaining why they haven't called it yet. Chambliss is up by 3% with only 1% not reporting. Assuming all reported votes have been counted, its impossible for Martin to win. How has it not been called already?

Yeah. I wrote to my representative asking about legislation to prevent exactly this sort of thing, and my senator urging him to work to expel Stevens from the party and the senate.

Actually, Georgia requires that the winner get at least %50 of the vote. If that doesn't happen, they schedule a runoff election. See United States Senate election in Georgia, 2008 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia . Basically, Chambliss came in just short of the majority, so they're doing it again. It's POSSIBLE that Martin will win the runoff election; especially when you consider that democrats are probably going to flood the state with volunteers and cash.

Ah crap, I did read that on Tuesday. I just forgot it was Georgia they were talking about. If only the same people voted, I think the independent running took votes about equally from the other two candidates. According to CNN. I agree, dems will undoubtedly flood Georgia, but republicans need that seat, too. I would imagine it would be equal on both sides. No telling what will happen until it happens, though.

Well, the same people probably won't vote. Consider how many of them only wanted to vote for Obama. Those people aren't likely to go show up for that.

I'm personally expecting Chambliss to win,

There was a lot of that crap in these elections. Unfortunately, a lot of it was Republicans acting like idiots. From what I read that was why Dole lost. Made claims that Hagan was supporting atheists, in an effort to piss off the religious. Bit her in the ass.

No, she actually claimed that Hagan was an atheist; or strongly implied it. She actually got a voice actor to say 'There is no god' in a voice that sounds like Hagan's.

It is kinda fun to watch people who are probably going to win do something stupid for no real reason. Incumbent around here, was considered the safe winner, and the people caught him on video stealing yard signs. Seriously, if you're going to try to influence the election, at least do something that doesn't make you look like a pussy. Guy who was considered a longshot won by a narrow margin because of that.

If I didn't know the people of Alaska are the real-americans I would've tought I was reading news about a mexican state election.


Although maybe this is part of their strategy to declare independence and join not Canada but Russia.

honestly, at this point, I don't think I'd have any objections to letting Alaska leave the union (I would say have a vote to leave the union, BUT YA'KNOW...)

Let them secede, quarrel amongst themselves for a few years, and then invade them in the name of a humanitarian mission and put a government that's more favorable to Washington in power.

It's never gone wrong before.
