Many ISP's in the US and Canada have caps on them. They just don't always tell you what the threshold is.

I'm pretty sure you're right since I read that before Comcast set the cap at 250GB they had put a few people's accounts on hold for using too much bandwidth. For "Too Much Bandwith" to be used, there will have had to be some kind of unknown cap to consumers that Comcast didn't think anyone would go over. I "think" I read around the same time that the FCC filed a lawsuit against comcast for how they went about putting the peoples accounts on hold and Comcast had already charged fees to some of the people.Originally posted by Mhurron View Post

Well I know my ISP doesn't........yet but they are looking into it. I pay through the nose for my service. A distant cousin got a job with them and told me that my account is one that his a little notation that I get premium customer service. LOL GDI I better for damn near $200 a month for cable/internet. I d/l at least 5gb's a night and thats "at least" and thats "at night". I also d/l during the day and couldn't even estimate. My son is the same but I'm sure you could double whatever I do for him. But this will change DRAMATICALLY if my ISP goes the same route as these other places. Also, about the topic, I heard about this earlier. This sort of bullshit was one of the reasons I left Comcast, and if AT&T goes the same route the same will happen to them. I sent an email to the CEO, not that I'm expecting it to change minds, telling him that not only would this offend me, but it would simply make their service far too expensive to be feasible. I'd basically be forced into switching to another provider, even if I liked AT&T. Suffice it to say I'm not a giant AT&T fan, and this would be the multiton hay bale that broke the camel's back.
FIOS and Speakeasy look good, but they're not available in my area. I've heard good things about a local cable company, but they changed their name recently..Comment
