My god, whoever told you this should have their skin slowly peeled off of them and then placed in a vat of salt water. This is absolutely UNTRUE.

TGM hit the nail on the head about this statement. This is the kind of misinformation that people have about the military that paints a bad picture at times. It's understandable that the intention to give advice is there, but you're rather off the mark (by a LOT) there.

As far as Intel is concerned, there's quite a few jobs in it, but to get the full story on them, you really do need to ask a recruiter about them. They have all the most accurate and up-to-date info on them. There's nothing wrong with going up to them and asking for info; yeah they might try to get you to sign up, but that's their job. Nothing saying you *have* to sign if you don't want to; you're simply looking for info. Google can also help ya there as well.

An interesting Intel job is Imagery Analysis. You look at imagery that comes in from satalites and recon aircraft. They "deploy inplace" meaning they never go anywhere.
