Bills don't just magically appear and then get signed. It did go through Congress. Don't just blame Bush for all this, our incompetent Congressman/women and the rich lobbyists that pushed this bill share the blame too.

Also I guess I'm kinda fucked. The ratio of downloaded music to purchased music on my computer is probably 100:1. I have over 40GB of music and growing.

Bills don't just magically appear and then get signed. It did go through Congress. Don't just blame Bush for all this, our incompetent Congressman/women and the rich lobbyists that pushed this bill share the blame too.

From the way it was worded it seemed like congress had nothing to do with it from the articles I read, all slanted on Bush of course. Either way it sucks, I can't read the joystiq one since I'm at work and its blocked.

btw I did watch school house rock but that was over 10 years ago.

Isn't a Czar a Russian King? So, would this be similar to a King of Intellectual Property? Wow... talk about an ego boost. As far as this law goes... Well, it's just plain stupid. It goes along the lines of "Well, you stole an apple from the store, so we're confiscating all of your kitchen equipment, including your refrigerator, oven, stove, microwave, cabinets, and all dishes and/or utensils in your possession.

(1) I knew this was your topic just by reading the title. That says something about the reputation you're developing for yourself. Dial down the overreactions, please.

(2) Perhaps now you realize that American politics is more than just voting for a new president. Or maybe you don't. A president signing something into law or a president vetoing it, that law he approves can be denied by other elected officials and the laws he disapproves can still be signed into law without his approval.

America would be a lot worse off than it is right now if everything a president agreed with passed into law.

I doubt this will really be enforced, so you guys shouldn't really worry too much. Downloading pirated music has more or less become an activity in just about every household. Although, think of the profit they could make from confiscating all of those computers and selling them for parts! It would boost the economy I guess?
