Both of those statements are known lies (not mistakes, deliberate lies). The British knew before we even started the war that Bush wanted war with Iraq no matter what and that he rigged intelligence to arrange it. (He couldn't rig *British* intelligence because he wasn't in command of it, but for some reason the British government decided to go along with him and hid their own un-rigged intelligence.)
If you hate this country so much you are welcome to go to Canada.
I don't think you understand how this country works. Criticizing the actions of the government is an attempt to IMPROVE the government. It's the most important form of patriotism in a free society. Without people willing to criticize the government, it would stagnate, or degenerate into abuse of power without anyone stopping it. (Also, if some people are willing to criticize the government but have no power to make it change, it will still degenerate into abuse of power, as proven by recent history.)

If you want to live in a dictatorship where nobody is allowed to criticize the government, you are welcome to go to Cuba.
This is where I discontinue discussion... I don't feel like bloodying my head against a brick wall.
Unfortunately, most people who say things like this are lying and actually will be back. Even if you did quit the discussion, though, it would still be worth taking the time to point out how wrong you are: lurkers can vote too.

It's no secret why bin Laden attacked the U.S. It was because of our involvement in Middle East politics, specifically, our uncritical support for a series of Israeli land grabs. I wish Middle Easterners could get along with each other regardless of their religions. But that's very, very unlikely in this generation at least. The power of religion to make people hate and kill each other is unequalled by any other force known to humanity. People literally kill themselves to strike at the enemies of their faith. So why are we deliberately pissing *either* side off to the extent that they're willing to come all the way over here and kill *us*? IMO, we should go back to being neutral and trying to convince both sides to make peace and stick to it (one of the successes of the Carter administration was helping Egypt and Israel agree on peace terms, which IIRC have held to this day).

That won't happen as long as the Islamic society exists in its current state.

And thank you for your hard work over these years, Cotners. I may disagree with why you ended up there, but that certainly doesn't mean you're not helping to do great things. It's because of your hard work and determination that things are slowly but surely improving in the area.

You've made more than enough posts for us to know you are bitter and cynical about anything and everything under the sun and moon. Stop spewing your bile for once and show some respect for the intent of this thread. This isn't about what you think Bush was trying to do or the conspiracy theories behind 9/11, its about the tragic lost of thousands of lives.

Seriously, god damn, what the hell is wrong with you two? A soldier comes in to comment and you look at that as an opportunity to attack? Tact: Go learn some.

That coming from someone who uses every oportunity to derail discussions into a "10 reasons I hate RDMs" monolog followed by "Why I think COR is superior to everyone else" one...

It really doesn't give your statement much weight you know?

And the reason why I mentioned Iraq is exactly because of the sensitivity of the issue.

Bush used the shock after the tragedy to push forward his own agenda, completely lying to the entire USA (and the rest of the world) while using the victims as one of the pretexts for what happened next.

If you really want to pay respect to the memories of the fallen victims then don't allow them to do that. If you really care about the people they left behind then don't allow the goverment to use their tragedy to justify the genocide of hundreds of thousands of inocent people in another country.

That's what my post was about.
