Hacker Uncovers Chinese Olympic Fraud

Basically teh government censored documents showing a Chinese gold medalist was actually 14 instead of 16, the minimum age to compete. Not really a big surprise though. The girl in question was obviously not 16, and many reports claim to have already known that.

Didn't know it was official yet, but I heard about the apparent controversy last week after they won gold in team all-around. Be interesting to see if anything actually comes from this, I doubt it.

I don't think it's a big deal unless being that age gave the girl some kind of unfair advantage. Either way I'm boycotting the Olympics this time (by... not watching them ) so I have no idea what you are talking about.

I don't know about a direct advantage, but if you think about the fact that out of their top 4 female gymnasts, one wasn't old enough to be allowed to compete. If they had followed the rules, they would have had to find another girl 16+ to compete, meaning going with someone not quite as talented.

I could see it being somewhat advantageous...I mean, look at the US gymnastics team compared to the Chinese team, when I first saw them (the China team) I thought they were 12...they're tiny. Weighing 30 pounds less has to be some kind of advantage when throwing your body around on the uneven bars and such. I know a persons age doesn't denote size, but I'm betting they'd grow a bit between 14(or whatever age she really is)-16.

Honestly, I'm not surprised. What would surprise me is if the Olympic Commitee actually did something about it...

It's a violation of the rules and should be dealt with. The reason they are dragging their feet is because China is hosting it and have been known to have temper tantrums when things don't go their way.

I'm suprised the olympics havn;t been cancelled witht eh way this PC planet is becoming. Here int eh Uk, one primary school stopped holding a sports day as it was deemed the kids who didn't win had too much pressure on them and were extreemly upset with one aprent trying to sue the school.

That's ridiculous. What's next, banning grades 'cause kids that get bad grades feel pressured? Why quantify anything then?

This planet is rapidly getting dumber and dumber. You ever see the movie "Idiocracy"? Not the greatest movie, but if things keep going the way they are now, I could totally see the human race ending up that way.

Anyways, back on topic, am I the only one that thinks if the U.S. and China's role's were reversed, and it came to light that our athletes were underage, that they entire freaking globe would be screaming bloody murder? Bet the IOC would do something then...

Not surprised at all. Not even angered. My only point of contention here is that if they stopped doing olympics I wouldn't have as much international hypocritical BS to laugh at. But I have to agree, it's all a load of crap.

Olympics is just a stage to flash your political glout around. Always has been always will be. (even including ancient olympics)

Lets just run through some prime examples.

1936 Berlin Germany....

Lets look at this previous 10 years..... Oh thats right a huge german revival of economy, power all under the command of the National Socialist party (NAZI)

1976 Olymic Games, Montreal Canada

Lets take a look at something of great political Importance that occured in the previous 8-12 years.... Oh thats right the FLQ crisis.

1988 Olympic Games, Calgary Canada.

Der's oil in dem der hills.... Alberta starts pumping large quantities of oil, province booms, Calgary becomes an economic vital point for the western part of North America. (Also the Edmonton oilers win 4 stanley cups in 5 years.)

2008 Beijing, China

China enters the cultrual giant status and joins the G20 nations (and due to its communist nature is barred from G8 status). Pretty well anything in the last decade that china has been a part of globaly (they are very secrative outside of ecconomics which can be tracked to an extent.)

Basically every single olympic games has some sort of political statement behind it. If your curious of these events check out the FLQ crisis it is a good read. Alberta Oil Boom in late 70's early 80's is also good, and the story of china over the last decade is awesome. All these events had huge impacts on the world and thats why these places got them.

Oh and one more....

2002 Salt Lake City, USA

City officials bribe IOC board members USA hosts its first winter games in 20 years.

Thats a wonderful story for all you Americans who the the world hates it for no reason.

Well when the nations following the rules have young women at ages 16, 17, 18 competing, having 12, 13, or 14 year old girls in the mix is clearly an advantage. While the 18 year old may have slightly more muscle mass, the 13 year old is a fraction of the weight making certain activities clearly easier.

I'm willing to bet there would be more uproar globally if the US pulled something like this. Honestly, most people are just not really surprised about China doing this so not much action will come. If the IOC is going to make rules, they should enforce them. The way I see it, breaking age requirements is just as close to cheating as pumping 'roids.

Good thing the Chinese government prints their own newspapers so they can make like this never happened... Other than the rest of the world knowing.

I believe in one school district red pencils/pens were banned because of the negative effect it had when kids saw it on their papers. And somewhere grades were done away with and there was either passing or not passing. I wonder if that actually stayed that way since its so asinine its not funny.

As far as the Olympics being a crock and other views, you all are welcome to them. I respect thats the way you feel but its not the way I feel. I've had a couple family members that are athletes compete to get into the Olympics a few times. (None of them made it unfortunately.) The Olympics benefit the average olympic athlete emotionally, spiritually, and physically. The Olympics aren't perfect and thats because we aren't a perfect society/world.
