So I got the mail a little while ago and in it was this postcard:



I had a good chuckle on the governments dime. If my husband had moved, how would he know to call them and update his info? What brain surgeon came up with this idea to waste more of our taxpayer dollars?

Nope, we live far from NC so it wasn't sent regional. It's in reference to the contamination in the water table and applies to everyone who was a resident on base from 57-82.

What exactly seems to be the problem here? ._.

In my country, they always know where to send mail to since you must declare your new residence if you happen to move permanently (though I do occasionally get mail that's addressed to the previous residents...), is it not the same over there?

Though they ARE being a bit redundant unless they require more information to be updated other than your residence address.

Ever watch that HBO movie "The Pentagon Wars" about the Bradley fighting vehicle's development? The US Military has a proud tradition of promoting everyone responsible for truly bad ideas. My favorite part was the scene where they're testing the aluminum armor and realize that it releases toxic gas when shelled. Rather than change the armor, they decided to fudge the tests. You know you're probably not working with the sharpest tacks in the bag when the Israeli army sends back a list of changes to the vehicle to bring it up to safety standards and you're not even considering most of those for your own troops. You should watch that movie. Carrie Elwes was in it, lots of unintentionally funny stuff.

Well Balfree, if you change addresses here you have to put in a change of address form at the post office. They only keep it on file for certain amount of time though. So if he had changed addresses and his change of address form was no longer valid, the card would never have reached him. I just find it funny to send something out to someone that says if this isn't the right address, let us know what your new address is. Can't do it if I don't live there!

Nope I haven't seen that but it does sound like something that both my husband and I would enjoy. Thanks Kit, definately going to find that and watch it.

I think I've heard of this concept. Promoting beyond ability? I think the point is to dump the problem on somebody else, and somewhere else where they'd most likely be canned.
