Eh. That joke would've worked for any group. Just depends on the audience. Could just as easily be changed to Republican for a Democrat crowd, or to a high school team's rival.

Comedy isn't just what you say, it's how you say it. So while it would have worked with any group, it still woulda been funny.

yes. But when the joke only works by being insulting, there are better ways to get laughs than by just insulting the largest group possible.

But it doesn't make the joke any less funny. Unless you're the one being insulted by it, but that's more of a personal problem then one with the joke. Cause if you can't laugh at yourself then who can you laugh at.

I'm going to have to agree with Feba here. A joke that is insulting is one thing. A joke that is only funny because it is an insult, isn't a joke. It's an insult.

I don't care if anyone is actually personally insulted, the problem is that anything resembling humour only comes from the fact that they're insulting someone. Whether it's direct or not.

Again, it's entirely the "Haha, look at those idiots" factor, even if that isn't actually what's said. It would be equally lame no matter what group it's applied to. And if you think I'm personally insulted, I'm not, I'm not a democrat. It's just a crappy joke, for what is at best a cheap laugh.
