After literally years of nagging by friends and family, I have finally made the switch from Internet Explorer to Firefox. I was hesitant at first (been using IE since, well, forever) but after having it for a couple days now I'm really liking it. I had a friend that knows what he's doing grab me a couple of the "essential" add-ons ( Adblock Plus, Noscript), and I discovered the totally freaking awesome FFXI Helper add-on on my own and installed that (seriously, that add-on alone cemented my decision to fully convert, as dumb as that may be ^^). Anyways, I've been searching around for different add-ons, but there's obviously like 8 bajillion different ones out there, but for all the Firefox users out there I was looking for suggestions on some good ones that you may use regularly. It can be for anything at all, just cool ones that you like that you feel are worth getting. It has to be Firefox 3.0 compatible on XP, but outside of that, anything at all (well, except for the blogging ones, I'm not into Myspace and all that stuff). Oh yeah, I got Piclens, too, which is really cool just from an aesthetic point of view. Thanks in advance! ^^

Re: New to Firefox, looking for suggestions
well, the most obvious thing to do is just surf around addons.mozilla.org for awhile and try things out. Also, look up greasemonkey scripts. They are just awesome as well.
Specific add-ons:
Firegestures -- Mouse gesture system. It seems gimicky at first, but there are a few times when it's insanely useful (opening or saving many files at once, for example)
Googlepedia -- Easier to just try it than to try to describe it.
Customize Google - Google it.
Rikaichan -- probably not useful if you don't look at much Japanese stuff though.
Greasemonkey scripts:
PrEmail
IGN - Single Page View (I look at IGN reviews frequently, if you don't you don't need this)
NoDelay
YousableTubeFix

Re: New to Firefox, looking for suggestions
Gspace -- Allows you to use your Gmail account as an FTP. Very useful for moving files around to different computers.
IEtab - If for some reason you actually want to view a webpage in IE but are too lazy to open IE.
Stealther - If you like to browse certain unmentionables on a shared version of Firefox.
And trying out different themes is always enjoyable too. Find a nice skin for FF that doesn't hurt your eyes after staring at it for a few hours.
PLD75 DRK60 lots of other levels.

Re: New to Firefox, looking for suggestions
Thank you for your suggestions. I actually already downloaded IETab a couple days ago, Firefox couldn't handle my hotmail for some reason...had that email address for 10+ years so didn't want to lose it. I have a gmail acct I haven't touched in months, so I'll have to check that Gspace thingie out. As for the stealthing stuff, I'm the only person that uses my computer so I don't really need that.
Thank you for taking the time to reply...I realize I could have just searched through the entire add-on site, but sometimes it's nice to hear something straight up without a lot of developer stuff that I dont care about...plus who's to say all the best add-ons are even listed there? There's gotta be some floating around somewhere out there...I'm a slow motion accident, lost in coffee rings and fingerprints...
