Not true at all. No matter how mature a 14 year old thinks she is, she's still a minor child who is the sole responsibility of the parents. The 27-year old, however, should have most of the blame placed on him. What part of "a 27 year old drives hundreds of miles to pickup a 14 year old" sounds at all okay with you? 14 year old girls are dumb and irrational. 27 year old, pasty, WoW playing men are just perverted.

I'll be the first to agree with people's rights and all, but there's nothing you can say to convince me it's ok for a 27 year old to have relations with a 14 year old girl. He's the adult in the situation, and as such, he should face the blame.

What? Who says he had any idea who's house it was, or that she wanted to run away? If she's lying about her age, she could've easily lied about other things as well. You and I have absolutely no way of knowing if she lied about her age and situation or not-- but in this situation, they almost always did.

And if anything that would make it the parent's fault for not teaching her better. Still, though, if she used a backpack to take her things, would you blame the company that manufactured it? Or would you blame people who fed her and gave her somewhere to sleep when she was out? Now yes, if this guy knew what he was doing, he's stupid. There's no reason to believe he did, though. Even if there was, if a girl goes willingly she's running away, not being kidnapped. At best, they can share the blame. Although, again, the blame is on pretty much everyone. They're all being morons.

Parent's fault or not, when a 27 year old man picks up your 14 year old daughter, you have every right to be concerned. Say what you want about her, the parents, or the backpack makers, but when it comes down to it, if he knowingly knew the age of the girl and still drove to pick her up, more than all of the blame should rest with him. I don't care if the girl liked him or wanted to run away; he's the adult and he willingly picked up a minor.

Obviously this guy has some issues with women if he's having to resort to girls half his age.

No, they cannot share the blame. A 14 year old makes a bad decision and winds up with a 27 year old; she deserves mucho discipline. A near-30-year-old man picks up a 14 year old girl; he deserves child molestation charges.

              edit:

              They're all being morons.
Yes, they are all morons. But the guy is still the biggest moron of all for driving a minor child out of state w/o the parent's permission or consent. If the guy really did get duped and actually thought she was 18+, the media is the biggest moron of all for blowing this out of proportion (basically all the media does nowadays).

But really... He "kidnapped" a girl with the license plate "OMGROFL." How long until he is spotted? Moron.

Yes. Nobody has said anything to the contrary

The girl would've likely found other ways to run away. I'm not saying that knowingly helping a 14 year old runaway is ok, just that it's not completely his fault if he had in fact done that.

This isn't a matter of 'winding up' with someone, she willingly and deliberately went out of her way to be with this guy. And again, your entire argument rests on him knowing she's 14, which is probably not the case. Even if he had, however, known her age, driving a child is not molestation.

Not really. Even assuming he knew, the girl (and her parents teaching, by extension) should've known better to give out personal information online, and certainly know better than to LEAVE HOME with said people.
