I ran around naked at that age, and it wasn't from anything I saw on t.v. and I at one time discovered touching myself. Its very normal for both of those things, at least from my point of view, I'll get back to you when someone starts popping out my children.

Also, aren't you undermining the parenting your daughter is doing (or lack of), blatantly in front of her own children? Its particularly frowned upon if spouses do that to one another, I'm sure it is as well by another relative.

Yes dear, I know that it is normal for them to discover themselves sexually and like to be naked. My point was whenever they saw Spongebob doing it, they did it. Now imagine having some friends over for cards, the cartoon is on, and suddenly naked children playing with their pee pee's are running rampant. LOL Some people don't share our enthusiasm for sexual freedom. LOL

My daughters parenting....I could go on such a rant right now you have no idea but you hit it on the head LACK OF parenting is appropriate. My daughter and her 2 children are living with me, my house, my rules....simple as that. Since they started living here both of them have improved 50%, they eat better (you should have seen the nightmare), they sleep better, and they behave better than when they first got here. But whenever she's in charge of them (as we speak and I wish you could hear it), she lets them run wild. And before you say kids should run wild, this includes mouthing off to her, hitting her, breaking things, etc That is NOT the kind of running wild I believe you would think is normal....at least I hope not.

I'm not defending her parenting or saying that children should run wild. In fact I believe your attitude to be in the right (aside from blaming Sponge Bob with their behavior). I was saying more that when you openly defy her to her children, it sends the message that they can do the same. I feel a better course of action would be to sit your daughter aside and have a talk concerning their behavior and go with the your house rule, or to simply block Spongebob (if your t.v. is what?...... at most 5 years old).

Diesel, with kids these days as young as that they tend to copy things and look upon things as role models. If they are stuck in front of a box showing that drivel without any other stimuli, then they will look upon it as a role model. Young kids playing computer games and watching TV all the time without interacting with people, playing outside, learning discipline etc, are going to look at the TV and games thinking what happens there is ok. Its easy for a parent to stick a kid there and forget about them as some parents think bringing up a child is a chore and they do as little as possible to interact with them, which in term turns the kids into the gobshites we see on the rampage today. All I say to those parents is get sterilized or shut your fucking legs! Extreme yes, but to the point, definitely.

Censorship does piss me off immensely especially in some of my favourite shows like who’s Line is it anyway.

In the British version that started the show, they got away with pretty much everything within reason as it was shown on Channel 4, a well know TV channel that in the 80's when launched broke many boundaries. I know go to the blooper reel of the American version, where they couldn’t use a super hero called "Blind Jim" because it may offend someone. The show has gone down hill because the risqué jokes and funny sayings were continuously censored, where as in the British version they stay in as we know its a joke and wont try and sue for offending me.

That TV series I posted was censored because of all the innuendo, little did the US censors know that its very clever and actually a comedic masterpiece, when it was first broadcast in the early 90's in the UK it was a show that everyone watched with audience figures of nearly 15million (when you think the pop of the Uk is 72m, that is way over 20% of the population watching one show!

I think the moral of the thread really is that sometimes censorship can go too far and spoil something for no reason, when all that is needed is a bit of common sense.

This too. In fact, go block crazy if you want; but block things because most TV nowadays is freaking retarded, not because there's stuff you want to censor.

Every TV sold in the US since 2000 has been required to have a V-Chip; also since you probably have a digital cable/satellite box, you can also use that to block shows.

LOOL, I think it's hilarious when the kids "discover" themselves in the bathtub ... kind of have to choke the laughter up inside though to tell them not to play with "that."

Since my style of parenting/grandparenting really isn't the topic of this thread, I will not comment further after this about it. The problem is you do not know my daughter. If after 28 years I have not been able to get her to understand certain things, I doubt "a talk" will have any effect. They live here now because of the children, if it were my daughter alone she would not have been allowed to live here. I love her and all in all she's a good kid but her attitude stinks. I don't think she ever got out of her rebellious tween years. I never said in any of my posts that I openly defy her whenever it is on so I don't know where you got that from. I said that when I watch them, they aren't allowed to watch Spongebob. When I initially changed the channel she defended it and that was when I made the decision that when I was in charge it wouldn't be allowed.

While I agree with TGM that the path they've chosen for SCIV is sexist to both male and female gamers, this is once again an absurd case of Americans being afraid more afraid of boobs than people stabbing each other.
