Glossy plastic: Good or bad?

Fairly simple.

Personally, it drives me nuts. Gets streaks all over, to the point where if you ever take it out of the box it's covered in fingerprints. Practically unusable if it's really noticeable. The thing that really pisses me off is that it's on everything nowadays-- handhelds, consoles, controllers, my cheapass cellphone even uses it.

Also, while we're on the subject, anyone know where I can find a replacement shell for my iPod nano? It's easily the worst offender, I'd like to switch to something that doesn't get fingerprints all over it (like the 2G, possibly 3G, and 2G Shuffle)

Yep have to agree with you on this. My worst offender is my video iPod. The silver back and the glossy black front....*pulls hair out* I usually keep it in a silicone case but I have this portable DVD player that I watch videos on when I'm on the treadmill. My iPod plugs into it but I have to take it out of the case.

My PSP's are always wrapped up in a rubber casing too to avoid this issue. So my kids, funny little a-holes that they are, like to take my PSP, iPod, DS, etc out of their cases and muck them all up with smears and fingerprints and then put them back. Then they'll pick it up and go "See mom even in a case they can get dirty!" Should have killed them when they were young....

and yeah, the problem with those cases is that the gaps look like crap, and you can usually still see the streaks.

My ipod used to have a case, but then I decided it needed some...character

Now the thing looks like it's been through hell and back...as it should.

Sorry Ziero, I'm anal I guess. LOL It comes from the many years of collecting (or is that pack ratting? lol). I have this little voice on one shoulder going "You know you have that sexy slim FFVII JP PSP you could be playing and enjoying! You'll be long dead before its worth anything, IF its EVER worth anything!" and then on the other shoulder "OMG don't even think of playing that! It's numbered and a collector's item! You'd be an idiot to pull that out and use it and muck it all up!" See, add to that trying to keep it all my stuff looking new and shiney and I'm one huge headcase! LOL And my daughter wonders why I'm so psycho with a 2 yr old and a 5 yr old living in my house now! How do you keep things looking new and shiney with sticky little hands in the house!!?

Oh I don't blame you, I have things I'd rather keep mint and pristine too, but my hand held electronics were never one of those things

I've always been a fan of things that can take a beating without skipping a beat, so I end up putting all my small electronics through their paces.

Heh, my g/f shopped for my current phone by asking the guy at the store to start with models that would survive being thrown at the wall.

Incidentally, it's a glossy black plastic, and if I even think about using it it becomes instantly covered in fingerprints over every last millimeter, drives me up the fucking wall.

My ex-husband freaks about about the slightest imperfection in electronics. Drop a cell phone and he flips, even if there's no marking on it from it hitting the floor. And he won't let anyone use his phone because they'll smudge up the picture display screen.

Me, I get kind of annoyed by smudges and whatnot, but I'm far too lazy to care that much.
