Re: Clinton wins Indiana, Obama North Carolina. Clinton cancels tommorow's appointmen

It's not my job to tell you why you should vote. If you haven't figured that out by this point in your life, then nothing I say is going to convince you anyway. It doesn't sound like you're taking it seriously, so why should I bother to try?

    Your choices are:

+Idly bitch, because complaining is easier than doing something else.
+Vote, and then bitch if things don't go your way.
+Get involved, and stop bitching, or at least when you bitch, have some fucking credibility.

If you want to idly bitch, that's your choice. But why should anyone care about what you have to say?

edit: If you're planning on replying with "I don't care if other people care" save yourself the trouble.

Normally I'd agree with this, but the fact is the system we have is very resistant to change. You'd probably have better luck organizing an army to overthrow the government than you would have changing it through legal means.

To be fair, why should anyone care what McCain or Obama says about how the country should be run? They're just humans. There are people out there who are better educated, more intelligent, more in touch with reality. Why should they be given the right to act on behalf of an entire country, when they likely will only get a few million more votes than other people; when those votes don't imply that they actually think that person should have that right; and when there are many people those actions will effect who cannot vote.

And I do mean cannot, not will not, people who are unable to obtain citizenship (remember how awful our immigration is; just because someone isn't a citizen doesn't mean they aren't heavily invested in the US, probably more than many citizens), people who are citizens without a residence in the US (last I checked, US citizens who break a law overseas, whether it's legal there or not, can be tried in US courts), people who aren't over 18, prisoners and felons (this depends on state.)

According to wikipedia, there are about 5 million people who are unable to vote because of that last one (felony convictions) alone. Now, of course, those people are unlikely to be voting anyway, but it's still enough to significantly change an election if it did.

I already said Iraq was a bad example.

Then don't try to make it look like people are making a strawman. You know exactly what your example was, and exactly why it was completely wrong.

What? That it's suppose to be a war on terror? Like Afghanistan? Sure, that was my example.

No. You said, very clearly, that the war was keeping us safe from attacks. The war is in Iraq (which you yourself admitted you were referring to), and the only attacks on US soil in recent history have been from terrorist organizations. Hence, you're either a complete idiot who has no idea what they're talking about, or you're trying to make other people look like they're strawmanning you. Possibly both.
