Eh. I've seen cuter.

Used to have two cats. Now, I don't really approve of outdoor cats, but I've never had a cat that wasn't already one (and thus, pretty much impossible to keep from darting out whenever you opened the door). Eventually, they became pregnant, within a week or two of each other. Not too much later, had two litters, amounting to 9 kittens, 11 cats total wandering around. We moved them from where they had given birth (incredibly hard to reach, and thus take care of) places, to a closet (it sounds mean, but this closet is actually bigger than two of our bathrooms put together, and much more comfortable) and eventually downstairs. Seeing them take their first steps, open their eyes for the first time, walk a few feet out of the closet and then dash back in, etc, was insanely cute. Only problem was once we moved them downstairs (so they'd be easier to keep an eye on) they were running all over the place, which meant every time you took a step you had to be incredibly meticulous about it. Also, feeding time, we put their food on the counters, and would then lift them up to it. Eventually a few of them figured out they could get to food quicker by climbing up our clothes (using their claws, of course) than by waiting to be carried up.

I'm a cat person and most of the cats I've owned became very dog-like in personality. They come when you call them, play fetch, very friendly with visitors, meow like crazy when someone is at the door, etc. My family thinks my cats are abnormal since theirs are anti-social for the most part. I did have one VERY abnormal orange tabby cat. When we got him, we took him to the vet. After an examination the vet told us that he was a she. I pointed at the protrusions between its hind legs but he gave me some story and poo poo'd me. About a year and a half later, my female calico started to put on weight. Yep, she had a litter. So I took my tabby to a different vet and found out that my cat was a hermaphrodite. What are the chances!!? Someone hates me...

The cat we have now didn't have any other cats around, so she's pretty dog-like.

She doesn't come when you call (although that's also partially because we refer to her as "cat" more than her actual name), but she imitates our dog in many ways.

LOL Yes $1200 from a reputable breeder and not one of these pet mills. Comes with papers and such but it was a few states away so that meant plane tickets added to the mix too. Hubby took me to the shelter and plunked down $50 for a tabby for me. LOL

Yeah, if you want to get a pet, you shouldn't look at pet stores at all. Most of them couldn't give less of a damn about reputable breeders; I've even heard some of them intentionally leave the animals in less than good conditions to try to guilt people into buying them. Personally, although I don't see myself getting a pet for quite awhile, if ever again (they're a hassle, and expensive), if I did the first place I'd look would be Craigslist. Plenty of people there have pets that they can't take care of any longer for various reasons, so it's at no cost. After that, an animal shelter. The only reason to go to a breeder imo is if you want a specific breed of an animal that you can't find in a shelter, or you need a purebred for some reason (AKC events, I believe, only allow purebred animals in). Personally, I love Alaskan Klee Kais, along with a few other amazingly cute breeds, but there's no way I'd ever spend that kind of money on one.

I've got 18 cats. We had too many already and then the females decided to go into heat at the same time and now we have 9 kittens running around. Everyone in my house has two or three they're partial to. I'm partial to our big Tom, his name is Look About. His neck was broken when he was little and didn't set properly, so the bones healed crooked. He looks like he has permanent taco neck and has this weird look he gives guests when he's curious about them. He also acts strangely dog-like, and gives hugs and kisses and has this weird hair fetish. He like latches onto my head and rubs his face in my hair after I come home from work.

I'd never paid a breeder. ._.

So many unwanted cats and dogs out there, so few good homes... All my cats were originally from streets, except the "baby". She was a, umm.. "surprise gift". ._.

I WISH I had a kitty that meowed and purred @ peoples and was all friendly ; ; (as it stands I can't own any cats due to everyone in my family having allergies ><)


My best friend owns the most awesome tabby in the world though. His name is Ben, and he purrs almost every time I pet him ^^

Mal you would LOVE our Cosmo. That cat will start purring as soon as he sees you! LOL He figures human = scratching = oh ya baby get that purr motor revved!

I have bought dogs from breeders but never cats. We usually had Dobermans in the house but purebreeds are a huge investment. They usually have more illness than a mutt so there is more money in vet bills. Also upkeep is a bit more expensive and all of that adds up in the end. After Benjamin Brown Botticelli (his akc name) was stolen, I said I'd never get another Dobie. We have issues with puppy mills here in Wisconsin and they troll for good dogs and steal them to use in their mills. So when we bought this house, it has a much smaller yard than our other house does. That is not a good thing with Dobies because they like to run so I went to the shelter and got Ladybug, a mutt. We always had 2 dogs, a mutt and a purebred but not this time. I kinda felt sorry for her. But then we got Cosmo and he thinks hes a dog and they are inseparable.

There is nothing wrong with buying purebreds just realize what you are getting yourself into first. Also do your research and NEVER EVER buy from a puppy mill or a pet store (they just buy from puppy mills). Puppy mill/pet store "purebreds" are like playing russian roulette with your money. They are usually so inbred they have mental issues and usually have other significant health issues too. (I rescured a puppy mill Dobie from someone once and had to have her put down because she just wasn't right in the head.) You can also do a google search for purebreed rescues too and get a purebred for significantly less. Yes, there are a lot of dogs in the other shelters that you can buy too and they are great dogs. (Best dog I ever owned was a mutt.) Sometimes people want a certain breed and are willing to pay for it and there is nothing wrong with that either......just as long as it doesn't end up in a shelter because you didn't do your research and now you don't want it. ><

All kittens act like that at that age. They don't have many other ways of expressing themselves.

It's still pretty cute when they're old enough to draw blood.
