    Microsoft, Novell To Sell Linux Licenses In China -- Linux -- InformationWeek

    Must be great fun for them. They're able to sell something as a 'quality microsoft product', while still flinging FUD at it!

    Well, it's fun for me to watch, anyway.

      Hence FUD (Fear, Uncertainty, and Doubt). This particular line isn't new though - MS has been rattling this sabre for years.

        yes, but they would never reveal what they were, even if there WERE legitimate patent concerns.

        It's far better for them to say "psst... if you use that, we might sue you, eventually..." than to say "These are the patents they are violating."; because they know that if they ARE violating any patents, they're almost sure to find prior art to make it invalid, or work around the problem. Also, last I checked, countries that allow software patents are in the minority.
