Re: Obama's Speech on Race & America
Man I really, really hope he becomes the next president.
These elections will say a lot about the US and what is that they want for the future.sigpic

Re: Obama's Speech on Race & America
No other candidate has consistently delivered this kind of insight and eloquence.
And now HRC is going to do her own speech about gender...
Now, I don't mean to demean women here, but go **** yourself HRC. Can this woman not steal Barack's thunder/ideas for once? Give this man the credit he deserves. This took a lot of balls to do. He's addressing a major issue that a lot of people really aren't comfortable in dealing with. This has to be dealt with.
Again, I'm getting on HRC's case here for being the unoriginal, "poster child of the status quo" (thank you Jack Cafferty for that one ^^). I'm all for women's rights here folks. Oh yeah, and isn't it funny how she rags on him about being nothing but speeches, but then turns around and praises him for this...
Anyhoo, MAJOR props to my man Barack for this. Please for the love of all that is sacred let this man win @_@
This is a prime example of how he will restore America's greatness and respect among the international community.

Re: Obama's Speech on Race & America
What a man says dosent always come before what he dosent say. Im a Obama Supporter myself and think that the country deserves no other but after the last 30 years of back room shananigans, hell even back to tricky dick. Bush, Clinton, Bush being the key culprits, Ford and Regan didnt do to much.
Speeches are real nicbut actions speak louder then words.

Re: Obama's Speech on Race & America
Forcing people to be equal is not freedom. It is slavery. It is one of the fundamental tenets of communism. "Slaves" proper have not existed in the US for over 100 years. No one who now lives was a slave in the US. The issue of slavery is thusly completely resolved and has no true place in politics today.
Black Americans (note that I don't say African American. An African American IMO is a person who emigrated to the US from Africa If you are not from Africa, you are not an African American. If you are from the US you are an American--like me, regardless of how you are colored.) I say again.. Black Americans are in my opinion fully protected under the law. The only remaining differences are social and are left to be bred out of the populace. This is not something that could or should be a legal matter. Therefore, "race" in the US should not be an issue in modern politics because the issue is fully resolved from a legal standpoint.
Mr. Obama speaks rather eloquently but does't actually give any solutions to any problems in this speech. It is designed to be pretty and only that. It is designed to address social and personal issues rather than polical issues. It is a worthless piece of clap-trap that gives us no information on Obama's politics, and quite frankly I don't care about him as a Person, as a Christian, or as a Black Man. The only thing I give a s_it about, is his politics. You have wasted 37 minutes and 39 seconds of my time.
The only thing this speech tells me is that I don't want a President who's going to spend 4-8 years dealing primarily with creating social programs that benefit a certain segment of the population based on the color of their skin.
Oh, and Obama is as much African as I am Irish.
Blah, blah, blah, Race card, Race card, Race card... Let's move on shall we?
Of course, he ends with "Let us be our brother's keeper." This implies to me that Obama, like so many Democrats, plans to change the world through forcible charity (also called Social Programs). Wonderful--let's take more money out of my paycheck every week. Of course, it doesn't really matter who you pick--more money will always be taken.Last edited by Sabaron; 03-18-2008, 08:40 PM.

Because I don't like political candidates who don't actually talk about policy?

Because I don't like being forced to give people money?
